This Loss tonight has shown that the 2010 Team Run is Over and Need to Start Building the Next Side to have a Crack at Flag.

I would get Rid of all the Coaches except Buckley and Tapping. As I think the Other Assistants have done a Pretty Terrible Job.

Get Rid of Lynch and Russell. They give us no Impact and stopping Kids Playing and Taking a Spot on there list that could go to a Kid.

Krakouer should be Retired as he does not really do enough in a Game. Yes he can give some excitement but no way near enough.

I would even think of Trading Sidebottom as He shows in patches how good he can be but his Up and Down form is not great

Get Rid of some Dead Weight in:

* Cory Gault(don't think he is good enough)
* Peter Yagmoor
* Martin Clarke
* Micheal Hartley(Too Injury Prone)
* Brent MaCaffer

The 2012 was Awsome and has given us some real Chance of some Future Guns.

* Grundy in the last 3 Weeks have been Awsome in the VFL. Upside is Scary
* Kennedy has played 8 AFL Games and Done some Nice Things. Seems above VFL Level
* Broomhead started well but gone quiet but Shown Great Potentia;
* Ramsey has shown great run of Half-Back and Ball Use is Good
* Mature Age Rookies have been Good. Dwyer being the Best

Still have a Very Good Core of Player that to build around in:

* Swan
* Pendlebury
* Cloke
* Reid
* Brown
* Beams

So what do you Think? Do we need a Mini Re-Build.

I think we do as some of Players that where good 3 years ago are past it or just gone way Backwards.

Love to hear your Thoughts Guys?

Also Put Reid Forward and Cloke Back Because Reid is a better kick for goal then Cloke

Good posting Dave. I don't agree with all you say, but certainly all worth thinking about.

  • BJ: gawn
  • Didak: gawn
  • Maxwell: will retire at the end of the season
  • Jolly: last season as a #1 ruck. Might play a coaching/backup role in 2014
  • Swan: we have seen his best, but still has a few years in the tank
  • Ball: can and will play on
  • Heater: needs a head reconstruction, should and will play on
  • Cloke: has failed as a full forward, reminds me of Richo, play him on the HFF with a licence to roam as he likes
  • Marty: good depth, unlikely to be in the 22 most weeks
  • Kennedy: shows promise, but we have too many midgets already
  • Daisy: should become vice-captain next year.
  • J. Thomas: fast cementing himself as a best-22 player. Stll has off days; will only get better
  • Dwyer: no problems with this player, he's AFL standard without a question
  • Martin: dominates at VFL level, yet to be seen whether he can be more than a handy fill-in on the big stage.
  • Witts: good and not so good, as you expect with a young player. Will improve, looks the goods.
  • Beams: you don't fluke Copelands.
  • Keefe: will play 200
  • Goldsack: don't be fooled by his not-quite-right form this week, he is one of our best 10-15 players and is vital to our forward line
  • Reid. All-Australian CHB, can swing forward and swap with Goldie. What more can you ask?

Intresting Post Tannin.

Agree with Cloke being more Pushed up the Ground.

Witts is Hot and Cold. Biggest Problem he is Slow.

I would not call Keeffe a 200 Gamer yet. Does Show Promise Though.

J Thomas is good but Kicking Needs work on

Good post, Lads.

Keeffe will be around as long as Presti, and he'll be a great utility.

Witty needs time, Dave. He had a breakout game last week, and is developing OK. You'd love the Geelong Cats magic with their recruiting of Blicavs, first year, very good, but we don't. Jolly and Huddo are cactus. Let's hope Grundy goes OK. Dunno, Pies just haven't landed a ruck since Monkhurst and Jolly......................with apologies to Steve Mckee.

The 'Pies will shed some skin in the next few years, so we have to adjust.

Go the Pies

OP raises some interesting points, pity they aren't his own.

But I don't blame him, thread would have looked horrible if it consisted merely of trade Sidebottom, de-list Krakouer, Hudson and Caff, play Cloke in the back line pearls of wisdom.

I think we've been having the mini rebuild for the last season and a half with all the new players we've introduced.

I disagree with Dave on Gault, he has more upside than Paine for mine.

It's incredible that after winning a flag in 2010 we are talking a major (not a mini) rebuild for 2014 and beyond.

Surely my take on the 2010 flag is right now. It was a fluke. The truly dominant sides of the past 7 years have been Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn. We are the odd one out.

Well Gault did look good in his Rookie Season but he has not gone on with this season. Could be he played mostly Back where he has No Idea. Looks Okay Forward but just has not shown the Form he showed late last season when he came back from a Injury

2010 was no fluke. That's ridiculous Jack. We were the dominant side of 2010 & deserved the flag. In 2011 we were even more dominant except we couldn't beat the cats unfortunately. Since the coaching change we are a shadow of our former selves. Before 2012 no team could get the ball out of our forward 50 from a kick in without near dying trying to do so. Now we let them kick the ball from one end to the other without even offering a contest along the way. Freo are playing the way we did in 2010 right now, because their coach knows how important physical pressure is on the ball carrier. They are manic like we used to be. We have moved on to something different & it ain't pretty. It's just soft.

Since 2012 season started.

Intensity - Gone
Pressure on the ball carrier - Gone
Lock it in our forward 50 - Gone
Make the opposition kick to a contest - Gone
Kings of contested footy - Gone
