For me it's all about restocking for a genuine challenge in a couple of years. With Beams, possibly, leaving we need to stop treading water and make some serious list moves to bring in young highly talented players that will help the Pies achieve this.

With that in mind I'd like the following to happen:

1. Beams to Brisbane for pick 4, 24 and Josh Green.
2. Pick 4, 45 and Harry Lumumba to GWS for pick 3 and Cameron McCarthy.
3. Pick 3 and Ben Reid to GCS for Jaeger O'meara.
4. Pick 24, 28, Nathan Brown and Josh Thomas to St Kilda for pick 1.

We lose - Dayne Beams, Harry Lumumba, Ben Reid, Nathan Brown and Josh Thomas.

Dayne wants / needs to go home to be closer to his ailing father, Harry needs to play somewhere else, both Ben and Nathan are injury prone but still have high trade value (though that will change with another season of injuries) and Josh, I believe, is a wonderfully talented player but just won't get regular games with the Pies but is something the Saints are in need of and will have value to them.

We gain - Christian Petracca with pick 1, Darcy Moore with pick 8, Cameron "sunshine" McCarthy, Jaeger O'meara and Josh Green.

Petracca and O'meara will combine with Pendles, Sidebottom, Adams, Kennedy, Freeman and Broomhead to become a pretty damn good midfield. Darcy Moore and Cameron McCarthy can both play KPF and KPD with McCarthy having the added value of actually being a bloody accurate kick for goal. Josh Green adds speed and goal accuracy to our forward line and can run through the middle in bursts, and when you combine him with Elliot and, hopefully, Faz you have a small forward line that looks pretty dangerous.

As I stated we lose a lot but, I believe, we gain a lot more for the near future.

What do you lot believe would best serve to Pies over the trade period ?

Do you in your heart of hearts believe that will even get close to happening?

Fortune favours the brave. But realistically no I don't belive the above will happen it's a thread about what you want to see occur.

2 ways to look at it. What we all want? Ablett, Roughead, Fyfe, etc. Or what we want thats half realistic.

I mean it's easy to say I want Priddis for pick 50. At least OEP's put some thought into it, even if its a little far fetched.

What do I want?

Well with the expectation that Harry and Beams are gone, I dont think it's out of the question to hope for:

Clark. (Draft pick)
Mullet. (Harry - possible swap of picks)
Dangerfield, Or high picks. (Beams)

Then I'd like to try for one of the GWS players who may want to return to Vic. (Shiel? Cameron? O'Rourke etc).

And I think it'd be a good idea to throw a contract at Malceski.

And of course, I'd love to get Carlisle from Essendon if he wanted out. But yeah, I cant see that happening.

Anything is possible when it comes to trade week. It all boils down to what your prepared to offer to pry a player away from his current club.

Any news with Malceski? Don't think we're looking at him, but I think he's worth a 2 year contract.

Surely he'd want to play in Melbourne for the biggest club.

- Trade out Beams for pick 4 and one of Mitch Golby, Jack Crisp, Tom Cutler or Ryan Lester (all Victorians).

- Aish, Hanley, Rockliff, Redden, Rich or Zorko won't happen.

- Orchestrate a trade to secure pick 1 for Petracca (Cal Twomey today rated him as a top 5 pick, so he could still slide).

- If that fails, use pick 4 on Angus Brayshaw (unless Petracca is still there).

- Trade Lumumba for pick 22. Use that pick on Nakia Cockatoo.

- Moore selected at 8.

- Trade a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Jonathon Giles from GWS.

- Trade a late pick for Jake Kelly from the Crows.

- Use a later pick on Mitch Thorp.

My draft strategy is to:

- Bolster our midfield and flanks with size, strength, endurance and explosiveness.

- Bring in a mature ruckman to ease the burden on Witts and Grundy.

- Bring in a mature key forward that could also go back to help Cloke and our young defence.

How's this:

Beams to Lions.

Merrett and pick 4 to Dees. Harry to Dees.

Pick 2 and pick 22 to Collingwood.

Pick 22 to North.

Mullet to Collingwood.

(Lose Beams and Harry. Gain pick 2 and Mullet).
(Could then use pick 2 on Petrecca, or send it to Crows with Kennedy for Danger).

Melbourne aren't parting with pick 2 for that deal. Pick 3 best case scenario, of which McCartin and Petracca would be snapped up by then.

Got to admit Mullet is sounding more and more like a player the Pies really should pry free of the Roos. Pick 22 would most likely be the cost.

I really don't know what he's like, but there's been some suggestion that he's rather soft. I don't like the sound of that. We need rugged hard running players all over the ground. Does he fit that bill?

I want lots of crazy 5 way trades that land us with Dangerfield, Tenace, Fevola and Pick 1.

Looking at his stats only he seems to be more an outside player with excellent skills who provides run out of defense.
