I agree he can take a pretty decent contested grab. He averaged 1.6 contested marks a game last year and about 3 or 4 per game over the last few years. He averages 2 or 3 goals a game over the same period. This is in spite of us sending it his way on what... 40% of our forward entries?

I understand that he's a favorite around the club and that we shouldn't just piss him off to somewhere else especially with the experience drain happening at the moment but geez... there's gotta be a better way to spend all that salary cap than on a guy who gives us those returns, who admits to dropping his bundle early in games, who doesn't appear to show much in the way of leadership and who takes every other opportunity to give the ball straight back to the opposition whenever he gets it.

He gets double and triple teamed, and he has the ball kicked over his head, on top of his head or at his feet. In the last three years as Buckley has altered the game plan and the personnel have changed, Cloke's job has been harder. 3 or 4 contested marks a game is elite. Over a career the highest average is Matthew Richardson with 2.77 and that's over a short ass 183 game career.

In terms of momentum-changing events on a football field, a big contested mark would be third behind a goal and a Schmidt umpiring decision. They are gold. Cloke is the goose. You don't kill the goose
