For instance Paul Seedsman at 190cm and 87kg (according to the CFC website) - I would've thought he'd be about 80kg - can't run out a game.
The Port guys are big strong aerobic beasts that can play multiple roles and it's enjoyable to watch.
You have to give Port credit, they've turned their club around remarkably. From the game day experience, to the recruiting and selection policies.
Hopefully Collingwood has been taking notes and tinkers with their philosophy. |
Seeds did tend to run out of puff. Let's not forget he had that injury, and spent the summer obviously bulking up for strength in the gym. I didn't recognise him first game back, he was a completely different shape. He looks awesome! He is still pretty quick of the mark, just needs to put the 2 together now, strength, and speed.
Hopefully all this research the club says they have been doing, pays off, and we get the fitness and recovery people we need. Skills will improve out of sight if the players can get to peak fitness, without all the niggles. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

I think he said they have been reviewing it after the last few weeks, talking to the institute of sport, rugby, hockey etc experts (sports that have a lot of soft tissue injuries I think) to try and find out what's wrong.
Mate I got all my gym equipment off eBay, I have a lot of friends with expensive gym equipment that make great clothes hangers, and I'd run them all into the ground! Ain't no good if your not using it the right way! And TBH I've said it before, we are too pampered, too spoilt, get the buggers out training in the cold and the rain, toughen em up! Altitude training works? No probs build our own. I do 15-20 k quite regularly on my stationary bike, today I rode 18.5 to the beach, factor in real hills, real wind, and dodging other folk, a magpie that swooped on my helmet, putting the effing chain back on, and I was Knackered! Get them back hiking the Grand Canyon! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Ahem:
- Cloke
- White
- Reid
- Frost
- Keeffe
- Brown
Those are our key position players. I'm confused, which one is the midget? _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

To those who compared with Freo, who have the tallest mids, did not Port beat them last night?
With Wines, Boak, Gray, Wingard as midfielders. Not exactly blessed with a lot of height, but weren't they running out the game beautifully.
Hawks have Mitchell, Sewell, Hodge, Lewis etc. They aren't giants by height but big bodied.
Swans have Jack, Hannebery, Parker and only Kennedy 'hits the heights'. Each is of a strong build though. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

4th tallest --well I stand corrected
Sadly due to injury Browne , a tall back and Reid back or forward
had little game time plus Trav was not as prolific as 2013
Think next time I, ll research before I point the finger
Thanks for putting it straight _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the various heights rather than just talk averages... for example Witts would skew our average up and we might have a lot more guys under 180 compared to others?
More importantly I think we are still little 'skinny' - but with so many young guys the bulking is probably building _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

there is a difference between the total group for Height and those that are picked to play and again those in the midfield.
Other than Pendles we dont have a particularly tall midfield especially when you compare to the best in the comp _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

And height whilst important the frame and strength of it is also a factor
I recall on TV broadcast of 2011 that commentators pointed out The Faz
as being brushed aside by the bigger & stronger Geelong players.
Our current batch IMO Swan ,Cloke ,Tyson hold their ground in traffic
but they the bigger bodies in the team--White could use more of his strength
Witts as the season went realised his frame could do bullocking work
We will get better I am sure _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |
