Whilst it is disappointing that we missed the 8, what should give us confidence going forward is that we have beaten 3 of the top 4 sides this year. Our record of 3 from 5 against the top 4 is pretty good.

We need to be like Port. Good pre-season, get the fitness right, some young kids coming on, smart trades and drafting, straight back in the finals.

Well, we did beat both the swans and now red hot Port, so we must have something going for us. !

Port were in their late season slump due to heavy training load when we beat them.

Maybe so, but we had half our team out there, and beat the at least prelim finalists with sheer guys and determination.

it would stand to reason we were doing something similar then too.

They were training for a premiership. We were engaging consultants to see what is wrong with our training.

I suspect not as it was not clear we would even make the finals, as turned out to be the case. Port had a case of the flu wipe them out that week, like we did when Essendon pummelled us.

we were still in contention so i doubt the plans or mindset would have changed too much

Looking forward to the days we start beating Hawthorn again. Hope next weekend starts a long decline for them when Port runs them off their legs.

Not 100% sure how it works but most of our play twice sides should come from our 7-12 group on the ladder.
