It was a good one and the "Right in front of me" guy makes it even better.
However two other finals (Non GF Win) stand out to me as better, and I was at all of them.
1. Vs Port @ Footy Park 2002 Qualifying Final.
Had pre match drama - Bucks was out with a hammy.
Port unbackable fav's - Pies given NO CHANCE
Pies first final since 1994
My boss making me go to Sydney for the week meaning I had to change my flights and arrived at Qtr time.
Ben Johnsons tackle.
Leon's 4(?) goals
Pies fans outnumbered 4-1 but were louder
Port fans going nuts after losing
Cops making us wait for the Port crowd to disperse
Crown lager stubbies flying out of corporate box windows at our group of Pie fans.
HUGE night at Joplins going off full of pies fans. Even Leon made a breif Cameo appearance
Getting picked on for fights 3 times by outnumbered Power fans at 4am between Joplins and Motel opposite Casino
Waking up a few hours later with massive hangover thinking "Did we still win?"
Reading the Adelaide Advertiser the next morning and laughing whilst eating a pie and drinking Gatorade by the liter
Losing my voice whilst having a huge at the Grand Hotel in Glenelg
All this with my 2 best mates to share it with.
2. Vs Crows 2002 Preliminary Final
LOUDEST crowd I have ever experienced at the MCG in over 30 years of attending
Beautiful weather
great seats
Roccas MASSIVE goal
The celebrations
Making to our first GF since 1990
The night outside the ground lining up for GF tickets with friends and LOTS of beer.
Waking up a few hours later with massive hangover thinking "Did we still win?" |
