Watts' best statistical game to date was a 18 kick, 16 handball, 11 mark performance in a 101 point beating at the hands of Sydney in 2012.

Can you imagine what it would be like to have your best footy contribute to a sixteen goal arse-raping?

Kid deserves a fresh start

That's a very good point. It's always easier to look like a star, or it's always easier to see a star, in a team that's winning. His skills are good, put some beef on him, surround him by players that can win a game. We have some excellant kids running around, no one could possibly knock frosty, who is looking to be our new back line general, could help the kid blossom. Could be win win for everyone.

Interested in people's opinions of Josh Kennedy, Matt Spangher, James Clement, Jay Schultz and Ted Richards before they were traded?

Yeah. It's a mystery Watts is a former number one draft pick, but I guess it's no mystery that a club like Melbourne would pick him up.

Watts isn't hot and cold. He's a consistent sweeping backman who reads the play very well. He takes Maxwell's role and is a definite upgrade on our former captain. He's a better get for us than Frawley would be.

Better skills than Maxy but doesn't come close on other aspects such as leadership and courage. When I sa hot and cold I'm referring to the multiple face palm moments he historically brings to every game. Definitely a better get than Frawley.

Too selective mate, doesn't therefore prove anything. Anyone could list 30 trades that ended as duds too.
Cam Wood, Simon Buckley, Jordan Russell, Anthony Corrie, Shaun Hampson, Scott Gumbleton, Sharrod Wellingham, Colin Sylvia, Jackson Paine, Jordan Gysberts.....blah blah blah.

I'm not sold on Watts at all. He's failed under the spotlight of being a number 1 pick, so imagine the heat he would be under joining us as a trade!!
Pass.

All I can say is that it'd be very satisfying if we turned Watts into a champ.

NO

Not Watts. We broke him. We piled onto him in his first senior game and he still hasn't recovered. He is an empty shell of a man.

WELL DONE COLLINGWOOD. The breaking of Jack Watts is as great an accomplishment as the 2010 flag, imo

88kg on a 196cm frame is way to light.

Add 10kgs of muscle, and a harder more competitive mindest and I'd think about it.

Problem is not sure he has it in him to work really hard in the gym and out on the field to turn his career around.

http://www.topendsports.com/sport/afl/testing-draft-results-2008.htm

Testing results from the year Watts was drafted.

He is quick for his size I'll give him that.

Slightly quicker than Hill and Naitanui over 20m.

An interesting read below and shows what his perceived weaknesses were as an U18 player remain to this day and probably why he hasn't lived up to the hype.

http://afldraftinfo.blogspot.com.au/2009/01/jack-watts-sandringham-dragonsvic-metro.html

A measure of the man or lack of quality development coaching by a lowly club?

He would have been rated higher than Moore at the same age.

Could we get the best out of him and finally unleash his potential.

Food for thought.

On that basis 5150 are you moving the "what to get for Lumumba thread" and all other trade type threads in this section??

No as I am hoping for 3 magic beans for Lafumbla therefore it doesn't fall into that category.

FWIW - I'd take Watts for lafumbla in a straight swap only.
I have a feeling jack is about to come good.
