And they would have told you the earth was flat 500 years ago. Popularity does not make nonsense less nonsensical.

Nor does it make anything factual.

To the poll question, I answered unsure. But I had to really think about that. If there's a heaven there's definitely a hell. I'm just unsure if there is a heaven.

But which Hell?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell

I'd ask any religionist why I should believe in their version of hell, and not for example the Greek or Norse version.

How come? What if heaven wasn't a reward but simply just the automatic next step?

Then it's very frigging crowded and considering that everyone has a different opinion about what "heaven" would be like to them, it would be all over the place like a public service picnic.

Personally, despite the jibe earlier, I don't believe in either heaven or hell. That would mean that each soul was unique and their was an infinite number of them and with multiple religions all offering their own versions, that somehow the screening process allocated people to one or the other.

Utter bullshit and fairytales used to keep the peasants under some form of obedient control.

I do sort of believe in a form of reincarnation, but not necessarily one that matches any religion I'm aware of. It's my own invention and it works for me.

basically, my concept is that within the ecosystem of Earth, there's a finite number souls that are shared out among all living things. As the human race has increased in population, that's been accompanied by a reduction in other life forms so the balance has been retained.

There is no supreme being deciding where you go next, it's luck of the draw and no pathway to Nirvana or heaven cos their aint no such thing. When you die, the meatsack your soul inhabits dies and the soul moves on to inhabit the next organic life form being "born" at that time. So we're all mortal and immortal at the same time.

maybe I should start a church, I could probably make some serous coin pumping this concept if I work an angle in. Wink

Hmm
If reincarnation is all based upon the next organic life form being born, we are all going to spend a heck of a long time as bacteria.
The vast majority of life is bacterial, so the next life form being 'born', is many times, in fact millions of times more likely to be a bacterium than even a slug (let alone a human).
There are more bacterial cells in your body, than your own body has cells. So enjoy your humanity, as it's likely your next 100,000 rotations in reincarnation may have you as a bacterium.
