Ability to run from back-pocket to forward-pocket and back again and back again and back again and back again then rest for 2 mins to do it all over - is the reason Kyle Martin doesn't play.
The guy is a seriously good footballer. _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

That's stupid. If it's got to that than the game is totally broken. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

But someone has to be there to mark it when it falls out of the air!!
I agree the game has taken a turn for the worse. I detest it in its current form at the top level actually.
I was more entertained by the local Under 16's this year, and I watch nowhere near as much non-Collingwood football at AFL level as I used to.
But, the reason I gave for Kyle Martin not playing at the top level is reality unfortunately. _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

I hear you, and I must admit that I watch non- pies games a lot less too nowadays... but.. it's because 'they' (the people who control our game etc etc) aren't thinking about it enough - the worm will turn my friend, even if ever so slightly. Not much point of chasing the ball, for chasing the balls sake. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

30 possessions and two goals per match at AFL level is champion/elite at VFL not that great
What are his stats at AFL? So poor that the play KM brigade disappeared overnight. |
In his 1st game this year it appeared he got a corky because he wasn't running freely and in his 2nd came on for one quarter and thrown into forward where ball very rarely.
So if your think he didn't grab "his chances"in these 4 quarters, %$^£$%^&%% me we would be dropping a stack of players week in week out and would know very little about what our youth could potentially do. I ain't saying he will be star, but give him a decent crack at least! |

Because he's "technically a good kick" according to Bucks! _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

And he generally is.
One negative I see with his kicking in is he kicks to where the player is instead of where the player should be, he doesn't use the footy to draw the player.
Other issue is picking an option when he's not being given much. Kid has only played less than 50 games so I think he'll work through these issues. As the team develops, players will work harder to provide options.
I really don't see that his kicking in is such an issue. He's probably been the most reliable at it we've had since Leon departed. |

Like deflection shooting when you're trying to shoot down another plane (if you've ever played WW1 flight simulators or the like) _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

One thing i will say about Martin, i only saw the one VFL game this year.
He was named it best and yes we was good with getting the footy and all that but what worried me was his lack of 2nd and 3rd efforts, there was one instance where the ball was on the ground a metre away and he just stayed on the ground on his hands and knees when he could of easily got up quickly while his opponent got to the ball picked it up ran got rid off it and later went up the other end for a goal. If he aint going to put in 2nd and 3rd efforts theres no point being in AFL. |

gee!! A sweeping opinion one play! I look at the 35 possessions and 2 goal average as a fair sample size of ones ability and usefulness! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

I really liked kmart
Really wanted him to play more games.
But as my brother pointed out during one of his senior games
he got pushed off the ball most times.
I think he needs to be kept.
It will be very interesting if anybody picks him up. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |
