Blair - wtf. I'm still trying work out what where he give us an advantage. He's not a goal kicker, he's not a link man, not a crumber. Not a mid. Not a leading forward. Not a defensive forward. If his role is just to put tackling pressure on opposition defence the we are playing with 21. Someone enlighten me?

Had some interesting stats in super coach. Maybe too much attention is paid to the 19 pressure acts and the 100% disposal efficiency even tho he only had 3 kicks and 4 h'balls

I really enjoy this stage of development. We're not very good, but we have the personnel resources to develop and improve pretty rapidly. This time it's somewhat tinged with the thought that it didn't need to be this way, but that will disappear if we do start making strides in 2015. Just as it did when we looked good for half a year this season. Seeing a young team develop is one of the great joys of the game. Under MM we watched our kids go from near the bottom all the way to the pinnacle in 2010, and for me, the lead up years were just as good if not better to watch than the final culmination. Continuous improvement of a young list, and never a doubt that we were heading in the right direction.

I can't say that I have that same strength of certainty regarding Buckley at this stage, but it's fair to say that there has been a fair degree of misfortune involved. 2015 will be an important year, one where we expect the slide to be halted and the rise to begin. Our fall away at the end of this year will make this easier but not easy.

i am convinced we have the core of our next flag at the club. 2016 - 2018 is where it will be at.

tonight, we had an average of 50 games per player less experience than the hawks. it showed too but we also saw a glimpse of what they are capable of.

the next flag will be satisfying having watched this group develop together. not too dissimilar to watching the formation of the cores of 1990 (1986) and 2010 (2006).

Yes, nice and intelligent post johnnie, mirrors my own beliefs, this very young team will turn the tables on these poos an piss mob oneday, they are an old side, we are a very developing young team, very young, the future is gonna be awesome, we are patient, we know the score, we can wait and the great times will come. Tbjs is not the beginning of the end, its the end of the beginning, to borrow from Winston Churchill. Wink Very Happy

When sitting in the Ponny last night a couple of minutes into the first quarter I said to my missus that the boys playing were the core of our team of the future. When you add the talent that wasn't playing and add a few decent draft picks we can build a team that is successful in the next few years. 2015 was never going to be our year but many of our youngsters have had the advantage of significant game time that will serve them well into the future.

Kind of relieved the season is over for us.
Would have been great to make the finals but I fear we may have had a pretty demoralising exit.
Time to hang the scarf up for another summer and reload for next year.

Go Pies

Masochist! Who are you trying to kid? We won a flag just four years ago with the youngest list in years. Only a dunderhead could have led us down this garden path. Evil or Very Mad

Piss off and barrack for the Tigers then, you seemed to muse the other day they might suit you, and they would. Jeesus h Christ, we are literally decimated by injury, have been all season, and we have one of the youngest, soon to be the youngest lists, in the League. Our kids are learning the caper, they played a vastly more experienced side last night, vastly more, Burgoyne, Mitchell and Lake are ready for Dads army. ! No doubt you would have sacked Bomber Thomson, after his first four average yrs at the Cats, as he built them, before they went on a flag rampage. Likewise, youd sack Clarko after 08, when the hawks dived for several years, as he rebuilt. But don't let FACTS get in the way of your stupid inept rants.
Piss off and barrack for the Tiges, don't let the door hit your arse on the way out. Exclamation Mad

None of those experienced players has improved the side. They have all been depth or role players at best. In the scheme of things, it probably doesn't matter much. A little more out of some of them might have given us an extra win or two but Collingwood was never going to win the flag last year or this year. In that context, it's probably more a marketing failure than a recruiting failure - it might affect membership numbers but it was only a stop-gap measure on field. The real question will be how far Grundy, Broom, Kennedy, Ramsay, Adams, Karnezis, Shazza, Langdon, Marsh and Freeman can go. That's the 10 players we've really recruited for the long haul in the last 2 off seasons.

I'm still struggling to understand why Karnezis didn't get a game or two this year?!?

He never quite got 100% match-fit. He was coming off a very low base. He should be a big mover next year, on what I've seen.

Players run off him all the time as happened last night.
So if he misses the tackle or the defender gets a
few metres on him, he is cactus.
Who would you have as a defensive forward goldie or blair?
Next.

So jackcass
What went wrong this year?
Looking forward to your analysis
sorry, your excuses!

Wasted on you, closed minds forever closed, I've already wasted more than enough of my time offering counter arguments to your inane crap. You offer no such discussion, just repetitive dribble.

Still waiting Jackcass.
Your mate Blair did well again.

Glad you acknowledge Blair's performance, might be hope for you yet.

Did you see the Hawks had a fair few kids in their side too last night? Only they are ready to play right now. And cut out the stupid piss off to Richmond remarks. They have finished above us on the ladder two years in a row now. How many decades do we have to go back to when that happened last? And on the injuries, Hawthorn have had as many as us this season too, only their list is much stronger (as shown by the continual success of Box Hill). They have a wonderful ability to develop their kids by grounding them in solid skills. Most of our kids struggle with remedial kicking lessons.

As they say in New York, quit with the excuses already. I can hear you trotting out the same excuses next season when the same fitness and coaching staff are wrecking our players careers with more injuries in 2015.

How do Hawthorn end up with Ceglar, McEvoy and Hale?

Recruiting must be reviewed, we have fcked up big time.

Grundy is better the Hale and Cegalr

He might one day end up better than Hale but he and Witts aren't there yet.

Neither are better than Ceglar either at this stage but more advanced than he was at the same age you'd think and hope.

Ceglar is keeping out prized recruit McEvoy in a team who'll finish second on the ladder.

Respect.

Witts and Grundy will be the #1 duo in 2 years time.
