So happy this year from hell is now over.

It can only go up from here, you'd think. Roll on 2015. I think there is a lot of improvement coming. Reality may mug that statement, but there are reasons to be positive.

A good, balanced game with 8.8 on the scoreboard.

Sidebottom continues to press a case for the Copeland with a best Pie on field performance (9 clearances particularly good). Would have been an almost shoo in had he not been suspended.

Unfortunately, we really only had 3 players who could compete for the full game: Sidebottom, Pendlebury and Ball, but that was to be expected.

Witts took a couple of nice marks, so too White. Gault was ok on debut.

Yep, I didn't expect a much better result than this. Catastrophic injuries throughout the year culminated in having half our team out, including most of our best players. I think the training program has to be massively adjusted. There were positives this year: I noticed that we played many games into the last quarter with intensity levels that I hadn't seen in 2013. But it seems that the price we paid was soft tissue injury, clearly from over exertion. We need to make sure that we get this right over the summer.
I think we can be very optimistic. I'm assuming we get the fitness program right, so that injuries don;t destroy us like they did this year.
Our young players have been through a baptism of fire and will be all the stronger for it next year Grundy and Witts will be that much better next year. I think both will be stars in the next couple of years. Broomhead is a gem. Taylor Adams is developing really well. Karnezis will have a full pre-season. Reid hopefully will get himself right. Brown will be back. Langdon, Frost and Keeffe have had a full year of experience down back and will be that much stronger next year.
Josh Thomas didn't have much of a year this year, but this boy's got talent and another preseason under his belt will see him that much better.
But everything depends on getting the right training regime. This is the key factor.
