I parked 20 mts from the front turnstiles. In the permit only area.

No ticket, so that was a win today! Smile

You were pretty lucky then, saw the ticket inspector doing the rounds at about 3/4 time when I was out front waiting for my girl to turn up.

As for the footy: Well if last night was men vs boys today was the the boys' younger brothers playing.

Yes our much vaunted "depth". How much did Box Hill win by today?

By 4 goals!
They want to go back to back!
It is a cultural thing.

If that's our depth, then we're in serious serious trouble (I'm not even joking here), the lack of anything resembling a plan was a worry, not to mention the constant hospital passing and lack of skills. As I mentioned before, it looked more like a under 12's game.

What depth? Remember we have 18 players from the AFL list injured, there were only about 4 AFL players out there yesterday.
PK, Mooney, martin, Kennedy.................anyone else? The rest of them were VFL listed or top up players.

our depth was on display on Friday night, there wasn't any left for yesterday.

Lynch, too. But your point is well made. And of the 4 you named, 2 are rookies and one is yet to play a senior game for us.

Great day except for the game!!

I was there, managed a car park 100 mts from the ground on Trennery Crescent. Took my dog - a big black curly furry labradoodle (washed this morning too - making him look like he's come out of the spin dryer)- he enjoyed it too getting lots of pats, eating spilt chips & bits of sausage!!

Lots of people enjoying themselves having a good time of it.

The sunshine was splendid.

As for the footy: Well if last night was men vs boys today was the the boys' younger brothers playing.

I saw that dog!
He was so fluffy!

My son got a photo with Paul Seedsman.
We were at the grandstand end, the goals to our right.
Players we saw H, Gault, Frost, Tooves, big Anth Rocca & Bucks walked past us with his kids.

Reminded me of the old suburban footy days when you could run on the ground after the game & have a kick...

Loved seeing big Lynch out there trying to help the club and the young blokes. Would've been easy for him to not make it back after breaking his leg. He would've known he wasn't getting back in the seniors.

The Sandringham players obviously targeted Kyle Martin.
Pity we had such a young/non-regular team out there; didn't get much support. Apart from the "brawl" Laughing he started at half-time.

The over-zealous security policies at the AFL grounds could take a brilliant lesson out of that game too.
Would've been one of the larger suburban crowds for a while, and it was mostly self-regulated with a small security presence to get people off the ground after the breaks.
Wow, guess what - not one little bit of trouble.

Of course.

It was all rather well behaved... mind you I miss the old days, when we were like rabid dogs frothing at the mouth, hurling abuse at the opposition at Vic Park (I mean there was some, but all rather tame compared to the old days).

I've made that same point to people before.

That ended up as a pretty decent sized crowd. No fences, minimal security, no reserved seats, people free to bring in their own booze and food. In the current day sounds like a recipe for anarchy, but guess what? When given the opportunity, adults behave like adults. There may have been some dickheads in the crowd, I don't know I didn't see any.

I hope that this continues and we keep playing our VFL games at Vic Park in that setting. It's unique and it's brilliant.
