Post subject: Tyson Goldsack poised to set sail to Port | |

COLLINGWOOD premiership player Tyson Goldsack could be playing his last game for the Magpies, against Hawthorn tonight at the MCG.
The Australian believes Goldsack’s management is sitting on a three-year offer for their client from Port Adelaide worth in the vicinity of $1.2 million.
The versatile 27-year-old is an unrestricted free agent and neither Collingwood not his agent Anthony McConville have been able to negotiate a satisfactory deal beyond 2014.
Contracts talks have stalled since the end of June.
Goldsack has stated he wants to stay with the club he has played 123 games for, but it is understood that the Magpies, due to salary cap pressure, have been able to come nowhere near the lucrative terms on offer from the Power.
“We have had some discussions and we are not on the same page,” McConville told the Herald Sun two months ago.
Port Adelaide has had considerable success in recent seasons with players from other clubs including Brad Ebert from West Coast, Angus Monfries from Essendon, former Brisbane midfielder Jared Polec and Richmond’s 2013 free agent Matt White. _________________ Daicos, this is when he's at his best, the MAAASSSTTTTTEEERRR!!! |

That was my initial thought. We've taken Jolly, Didak, Wellingham, Dawes, Thomas & H. Shaw's contracts off our books and lose Maxwell, Ball and Lynch to retirement this season. How the F can we have salary cap pressure?! _________________ Daicos, this is when he's at his best, the MAAASSSTTTTTEEERRR!!! |

I like Goldy but is he worth 400K a year? _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

I agree. We've lost 9 senior players in the last two seasons, some of them on big money. There's no way known we could have salary cap pressure. The club is clearly foxing on this. |

Nail-bang-head.
We'd be insane to match that offer, good honest battlers aren't worth 400k. _________________ Defender...........

They dont know how much each player is paid so its easier to say we can only pay you such and such due to salary cap pressure |

He's a good ordinary footballer who can play a serviceable (but no more than that) game in a number of positions. His versatility and tackling are the only stand outs of his game imo.
I hope he stays but we'd be silly to even try to match 400K. |

Is Goldy a free agent? If so, I imagine him going for a contract at around $400K should net us a pretty good draft pick. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

He is unrestricted therefore we'd receive nothing in return. However it would give us cap space to throw that extra money at Beams so he doesn't think twice about going to a cashed up Brisbane at end of next season. _________________ Daicos, this is when he's at his best, the MAAASSSTTTTTEEERRR!!! |
