I know people don't like Lappin for various reasons, and are happy to see the back of him but it frustrates me that we at least can't replace him or the member from our sports science dept due to the financial implications we would incur as a result of the newly introduced equalization tax. Instead we have to reshuffle our footballing dept and put further burden on our coaches and other staff.

This club has worked hard to put itself in the best financial position in order to provide its staff and players with the best resources available; and to think that that can now be dictated by the communist dictatorship posing as the afl really annoys me.

Why should we contribute towards propping up gutter rats like spoon kilda, the dogz, port, deez etc just because they can't or won't do it themselves?

If we can afford to spend and invest in player development then why shouldn't we be able to? Why should we be punished for it? A potential 1million dollar tax for overspending in 2016 if we were to carry on this way is far too extreme and we should be free to do as we please with what money we have.

Welcome to the AFLSSR, where all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

I also dislike the draft. I don't see why we can't be like Barcelona and just buy the players we want. I don't think Barca's supporters get a hollow feeling when they win the title about every second year.

Don't know about abolishing the salary cap on player wages, it would drive up bidding wars and clubs would go to the wall.
What I don't mind however is the debt ceiling that UEFA places on soccer clubs. Clubs are banned from overspending. So clubs are not limited by a cap on spending, but by a cap on overspending.
If we generate more cash than Bulldogs etc, then so be it. We submit our finances to the AFL and since we generate more than the Dogs, we are allowed to spend more than them, but only within the limits of what we can afford. They spend within what they can afford too.
Clubs are deducted points for overspending.
I don't mind this debt ceiling being applied to football department (coaches,
fitness staff, player development etc) spending.
If you legitimately raise funds, then spend according to what you raise.
If StKilda etc cry poor, then tell them to draft well, improve their team, win more games and generate more income.

I have no problem with it. Each team should have x number of coaches. I'd prefer

Senior coach
Forward co-ordinator
Backline co-ordinator
Forward coach
Mid field coach
Ruck / clearance coach
Backline coach

The first three are the match day coaches allowed on the ground to address players. The other work with the club during training.

I agree, this is pure socialism. There should be no cap on non player spending.

Its now up to the club to intelligently re-organise the Football Department in order to get the best out of the resources we are allowed to deploy. Its not like this was a surprise or anything. Unfortunately intelligent and the Collingwood Football Department aren't two words that are associated too often lately so we shall see what happens I guess.

Can we hire administation staff?
L Ball as a marketing executive helping our young players develop their "marketing" skills.
It would be outside the equilization tax

I'm with you mate.

The other clubs should be aspiring to reach our levels of off field success and not be looking to drag us down to there level.

There is already a draft and salary cap in place for equalisation purposes that works as intended for well run clubs with a strong culture.

All this move will do is stop clubs being able to fund innovative moves that will push the AFL to higher levels of professionalism.

Seeing COLA and Franklin directly influence the outcome of a final for Sydney yesterday in there favour is far more unfair to the rest of the competition than the total spend on a football department.

When is that farce going to be completely stopped?

The Yankees don't let a little tax stop them from having an unfair advantage. Neither did the Miami heat!!!

The tax actually helps us because it essentially prohibits poorer clubs from spending the kind of money they might otherwise spend for a couple of years. the kangas for example might otherwise spend big during this window they have a decent team.

Collingwood can afford the tax and so it wont stop them. wont stop Adelaide or west coast either if they think it will help them win.

It's a disgraceful rule mate. Footy socialism is alive and well. You know such actions would be illegal in Europe. That's why soccer is all free trade over there. The European laws forbid any form of restraint of trade, and equalisation policies are just that. We should not be propping up such basketcases as Melbourne. Stuff them. I hope they die.

Laughing Good pojnt. The same applies to Chelsea in England, Juventus in Italy and Bayern Munich in Germany. Let poorer clubs fight over the scraps. We have no obligation to them at all.
