Lappin is apparently goneski.

Lets not beat around the bush here, Mark Neeld was a terrible senior coach but was a massive part of our success in 2010 as our midfield coach.

I'd have him back in a heart beat as a forward coach.

If not him, who do you suggest takes over?

P.S Tarks is also apparently gone too.

Obviously Tarks and Lappin's 2015 contract not being renewed are just reports, but it makes for good discussion.

I'm not too good with negative counterfactuals.

Wouldn't even mind Scott Watters making a return. He was our defensive coach in our grand final years of which was as solid as anyone's in the comp. I'd be happy with either Neeld or Watters

I think it might be worth coming to terms with the fact that 2010 is ancient history now.

^ Funny you mention that, because I've been saying that for years. But also Watters and Neeld were very good assistant coaches.

I'm not saying everything will be 2010 all over, but who else do you go for? A first year like Ling or, even though they have had some time out from AFL, 2 seasoned campaigners.

That's a fair point. I've always rated both those guys highly (even though I don't know anything about the game). They just inherited shit teams ..

Haha I think most have come to terms with the fact 2010 is well in the past. But the fact remains their assistance coaching resumes stand as good as anyone's. They helped coach one of the youngest sides to ever win the big one, and you don't achieve that unless you're very good at your job. Next year we'll a very young side again, and I'd feel a lot better knowing there's personnel at the club who are well experienced in teaching these young guys to be elite. Watters and Neeld would be perfect candidates

I think we need to go with guys that have experience & runs on the board to help Bucks & other coaches.

Neeld would be great, Ling is no chance for 2015 as he is staying in the media.

I just saw this popup in my newsfeed

From this page: https://www.facebook.com/AFLSeasonAndOffSeasonNews/posts/347739112066990?fref=nf

Collingwood have started the internal culling, informing Matthew Lappin (forward coach) and Tarkyn Lockyer (development coach) that their contracts will not be renewed for 2015.

Best news I've heard in weeks.
Thank god for that.
Averaged close to 9 goals a game this year.
It just could not go on with this level of performance.
At least I have hope now in the forward set up.
Which is better than total despair.

Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Lappin was rubbish. Our forward function was rubbish.

Need an even functioning multi pronged forward line that doesn't involve bomb after bomb after bomb after bomb.

We won a lot of footy this year but forward entry was pathetic and clueless. Give the boys a system they can execute for gods sake.
