Anyone remember Micky 's dropped mark in the elimination final against West coast in Tony Shaws last game? I think it was about 1996.. That thug Worsfold was gave him shit about it...It was more of a lost opportunity but it hurt badly as it was in the dying minutes.

If only young marked it against Gold Coast. We would be playing a dead rubber against hawks this week.

Game of centimetres.

If life was lived by 'if only' there would be no progression.
To make 1 person a scapegoat for the whole teams low performance over the second half of the season is plain wrong.

I could name 3 or 4 instances in that game. Why isolate 1?

Young's mark didn't help but how bad did we play that whole game? We didn't deserve to win.

+ How did we beat Port a few weeks later? We should be no chance of making the finals.

That Gold Coast game was a pretty god summary of the missed opportunities and poor attitude in our whole season though.

What about the Close loss to the Dogs?

Should of Beat the Crows the game before Port when we took the Lead in the Last QTR.

We should of easily made the Finals but 2nd Half where we played like a bottom 4 Side stopped any chance of that Happening

Quite an effort to scapegoat an entire season of missed opportunities and insipid performances on one bad moment from one player. We've had some whipping boys at Collingwood over the journey but laying a whole season's misfortune at the feet of one guy is quite a stretch.

If you hadn't noticed it is a team sport.

I was always sceptical about Young's worth, but tried to give him a chance to prove me wrong. Unfortunately, my worries about him have only been confirmed. He's a beautiful long kick, but does not appear to have the mental strength to impose himself on contests when the pressure is really on. I'd actually be pleased if we delisted him.

Where were you sceptical about Young's worth but tried to give him a chance to prove him or her wrong?

Well said! When ever this comes up I think of poor old Jimmy Stynes! The ultimate oh **** moment!

You gotta be far enough in front that the mother of all decisions, by player or umpire, doesn't cost you the game.

That Gold Coast game was just £$%$ed from start to finish! We almost beat Geelong earlier in the year. So what? Almost almost almost!

It's not Young's fault we will not make finals, that's ridiculous.

Then again, it's not his fault for,

Not being able to make a tackle
Unable to break a tackle
Making poor decisions
Avoiding any form of body contact
Being injury prone
Missing set shots
Missing shots on the run
& let's not forget, dropping easy chest marks

That is complete and utter crap - FACT. The rest.... fair enough. He's still added a dimension to our team that perhaps only Seedsman can offer (or Harry if he could run fast again!!).

We need another sticky thread on this forum - we'll call it the Scapegoat Hunters.
