The problem is the mcg is too big for the
21st century game day.
Outside of anzac and final days it is a big
cold sterile concrete stadium.
Throw in the corporate rubbish, the text anti
social behaviour, the schedule, light beer, the
prices........
We get a shit sandwich experience.
We need a 30000 seat stadium. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

First thing the clubs need to do is insist on the removal of the AFL's Darren Birch. The guy who dreamt up the variable ticket prices cost us plenty. So did the moron at AFL HQ who cobbled our draw together. That person gets a massive fail; he cost us millions. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!
Collingwood rules the world again and Mick Malthouse fulfils his destiny with the twenty ten premiership and can you hear the people sing! |

Think variable ticket prices is a good idea but they did it backwards. It should NOT cost more for premium games, they should have made "lesser" games cheaper.
So Melbourne vs GWS is half price for example.

We had one mate at Victoria Park. We could have transformed that and kept our fortress. I'm sure Hiss would approve. _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |

And whose idea was it to wear the white skivvies? It only shows how few people are actually in the Collingwood "cheer squad". Let's face it folks, we haven't had a cheer squad since we left Victoria Park.
We have all hated the loud noise, the dancing boys and girls, the kiss cam and all the non-Australian additions to the game day experience.
But how come David Koch and Port can make things happen. Anyone else seen his initiative in having the whole crowd sing along to "They will never tear us apart" before the game? With skarves raised above their heads. And I mean the whole crowd (because at Port home games there are more than 50,000 Port fans). I wonder when the last time was there was ever 50,000 actual Pies fans at one of our games. There were 48,000 last night and 40,000 of those were Hawks.
But this group sing-a-long is Liverpool-esque and binds the supporters together. All our pre-game entertainment is doing is driving the fans away.
Come on Eddie lift your game. David Koch has left you in his dust.
Here it is. Look and weep.

This is my point.
This is what we DON'T need.
It's contrived.
Let the crowd create the atmosphere building up to the first bounce.
It used to be one of the highlights of turning up - getting vocal and supporting the boys/getting stuck into the opposition leading up to the unpredictable opening few minutes of a game. _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

Constructive!
How about happy hour before the first bounce.
2 dollar pots at full strength!
At least the crowd would be vocal and happy.
Oh no that is not politically correct.

get with it dude. That worked in the 1980s and 1990s. Today, nearly everyone has their head looking down at their phone until the bounce and even then some of them don't raise their head for the actual game.

Agree with the sentiment, but -
The MCC, the AFL and whoever else sitting in their ivory towers make it light beer and silly anti-social hotlines, etc. nothing much the club can do about that.
(I actually think the current policy goes exactly against what it's trying to achieve - it creates frustration and leads to people turning up already pissed, a much higher chance of violence and the rest. But that's another conversation.) _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

Yes, it is amazing how whole blocks of people have their heads
down looking at their phones when the game is on.

There was no way there was 8,000 Collingwood supporters in the final round of the season! There was approximately 25,000 in my view.
