Fielded a pack of slow, physically weak midgets
with no skills what so ever
picked jesse white and put him on a 3 year contract
vfl side had no skills either today
meanwhile power sides like hawthorn
keep rebuilding every year with skilled players.
Is hines credentials taboo?
Is it time to appoint a new person to his position?[/b]

Let's revisit this topic in 12 months eh? I suspect you'll have a large dose of egg on your face. Men against boys out there at crucial times and yet we fought like hell. Big grumpy call by you!

Most of the shorter players we have selected were taken later in the draft. Not much else available at that point. They've actually done pretty well considering.

Other picks, like Broomhead, Kennedy and Grundy have all shown promise, with Scharenberg and Freeman yet to get onto the park.

So, maybe point to specific failed picks, but as far as I can our draft selection has been pretty good.

Thommo speaketh the Truth. Hine is just an average recruiting manager, not a god like idiots on this site make out.

Results show that.

And Langdon at pick 60-something, or whatever it was.

Why worry about draft picks? Why can't we just go out and buy a Tippett or a Buddy?

Oh that's right. The AFL wants us to be perennial underachievers. It serves their purpose and fills their coffers if we make the finals each year, but bow out without a whimper.

As much as I'm filthy with what happened to us since 2011/12 Hine hasn't done all that bad considering he's only got his hands on high picks recently.

He was never the messiah he was touted to be but IMO his only recent clear bust has been Ramsay and the question mark still hangs over Kennedy.
There's no doubt all those low picks and rookie selections are catching up with us but I wouldn't be pointing the finger at Hine for our current state of disarray.

Hines has done well however the best recruiter in the business is a Collingwood man at Hawthorn. Ah Wrighty, what's it gonna take?

Reid out all year and looked like it today
Fasolo on and off the track all year and well below his best
Maxy Gone
Swanny played lame and paid the price
Sharenberg out all year
Freeman out all year
Karnezis out most of the year
Sinclair out all year
Oxley out all year

give us 8 out of those nine up and about and playing their best footy and we are a much, much better team. Even if the first year kids are only playing good footy in the VFL and putting pressure on the seniors.

Add to that, Cloke up and down in form this year, White disappointing and Q slow to start and then breaking a leg and that hurts us forward.

If we can manage injuries better next season we will already be a much better side.

Injury management & fitness has bordered on laughable all year. Those players in your post missing all year is just unbelievable.
