That's a shock, suspected suicide? Loved all his shows and movies. RIP Robin Sad

His big break came when the producers of Happy Days decided to add an alien to the show. Williams won an audition. He guest-starred on a 1978 episode that brought in avalanches of fan mail. Based on the outpouring the network decided to create a spin-off series Mork & Mindy. The sitcom, featuring Williams as a good-natured alien from the planet Ork. The show afforded him great opportunity to improvise. It was hugely popular and generated such crazes as the Mork doll, with such Orkian words as “nanu nanu” for hello. Loved this show as a kid.

Don't forget The Fisher King, probably his best role (at least, that I'm familiar with). Carried real pathos in that film.

It goes to show again that wealth and public admiration are no guarantees of happiness. RIP.

OMG, just so sad.

Gave the world so much joy, with light hearted comedies, and such brilliant dramas.

Thanks for the memories Robin, may you now rest in peace.

For some weird strange reason, this has truly affected me. I never met the man, but I've always loved his amazing genius. One of my favourite films was Dead Poet's Society.

I'm deeply deeply saddened by his death.

This is a reminder of how fragile people's lives can be. We only see part of that life and only the good parts are what we've seen of Robin. This is a time which reminds us that depression doesn't discriminate, so go on, ask that important question, ‪#‎RUOK‬?
If your not please, talk to someone, your partner, friend, mother, brother, the guy at the bus stop, or Lifeline 13 11 14

RIP Robin Williams and thank you for the joy and laughter you brought to my life.

i know many in my office are quite flat today after hearing the news. i guess that he was one that we didn't think would pass in the manner he did or at such a young age.

many of my generation grew up with him and first saw him on happy days/mork and mindy. a piece of our childhood has moved on.

rip robin williams.

A Very sad day.
Robin Williams set the benchmark.
A entertainer that could make us laugh, make us cry ...and everythink in between.
He was a tremendous a human being two.

Very very sad. Very upsetting. A huge loss to the world. If you haven't seen it yet see Robin Williams live at the Met: The New York Metropolitan Opera House.

The guy was a brilliant talent, loved his work.

For some strange reason I'm not actually sad about this, I actually feel more like happy for him that he's at peace. When you've had enough of the party, time to leave.

Always leave em wanting more.

He possessed a unique and special talent that is rare to so few.

One part comic genius, one part accomplished dramatic actor.

In a world increasingly filled with such anger and hate we've lost a person who could fill it with some much needed light, laughter and inspiration.

The world needs more people like Robin Williams.

This reporter is he brave or stupid to say it how he see's it? I think he was dumb, in his position he should have kept his thoughts to himself.

Quote:
“I would never presume to know anything about his private life. And if any of his family members and friends were to have seen me use the word ‘coward,’ I would be horrified,” Smith told Mediaite.

“I would just like to apologise to the end of the earth to anyone who might think that I meant to openly call him a ‘coward'.

“To the core of my being, I regret it. It just came out of my mouth. And I’m so sorry. And to anyone and their families who see that, I am sorry.”

I'm far less interested in self-censorship (which I don't see as a huge virtue, to be honest) than whether or not the sentiment itself was justified. In my view, it very much isn't. The "suicide is cowardly" discourse is harmful and judgemental.

well said.

I never used to see it that way, I thought it was taking the easy way out, and then I saw my Mum forced to hang on a year too long.....

it must be awful to not see a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel
