What are your thoughts about N Brown & Lumumba to Freo for their first rd pick (approximately 16-17) and a late 3rd pick?

Why? Nathan has a 30 year old body at 26 and hasn't ever played 20 plus games in 8 seasons. Heretier, shall be 28 and doesn't seem very engaged at the moment. A bit like Ben Johnson at a similar age where footy was "a tad less important".

H was responsible for half the goals Collingwood scored against Port. I look forward to him becoming engaged. Your suggestion that we get rid of Brown is just silly. We have no one who can stand the opposition monster forwards. Letting Brown go just leaves a bigger hole down back. Of course, if the prognosis on his injury isn't good, we'd never get a decent trade, anyway.

Harry is worthless as trade bait
brown may get a late second pick
more likely third round pick.

Not a good idea.

We are clearly blooding a new team - but we can't go so far that we have no senior types left - Melbourne did that and the young guys had no leaders to show the way.

Brown as mentioned is the guy who plays on the monster forwards - he is still ahead of Frost in that regard and we cant just rely on Keefe and Frost anyway - so Brown is very much required!

Harry has been good up the ground probably had to drift back a little more than he wanted this year given our backs were under the pump - but he is easily in our top 10 still and plays with attacking flair that our team needs.

I think Freo learned not to do sucker trades a few years back now.

Aside from the going home factor, why would we trade those two for a very late first rounder when we could trade them to a struggling club for an earlier pick? I'm against trading either of them regardles. With Heater and Maxy gone, we are desperate for leaders in our defence. Either of those two leaving is going to set us back not only in the short term but the medium to long term also.

I think we need to give both at least another year (might be too late) Brown has been injured so we cant judge him on that, lets get him right for next year, cross our fingers. O'Brien killed it early last year playing as a winger, with all the injuries etc we've had to throw him around just about everywhere to fill a need...Worst can happen is it adds to our depth if they dont get games.

Despite the thoughts of some, Lumumba has had quite a good year. Started very well and faded a bit with the team performance dropping off dramatically. There's no doubt he can be inconsistent, but he is a very important part of our team because he brings a different skillset to most of our players. Not every player can be as consistent and predictable as Blair, you need a mix of both.

Nathan Brown is our number 1 tall defender, as well as an important potential leader. We need him. Trading him now after a long term injury would do us no favours anyway.

strangely, i look forward to when lumumba gets the ball in his hands. aside from the fact you never know which way it might go he does have a crack and tries to take the game on.

He breaks lines, his value to our side can't be understated.
