It's a bit of a gobsmacker: boiled down, Bolt is saying that the recipe to fix the Abbott' government's sustained unpopularity is to bring in more policies like the widely disliked ones they already brought in or tried to bring in. In short, says Bolt, if you are in a hole, dig even deeper. The mind boggles. | Great Description, I could not have said it better. |
Yeah, I read the Bolta manuscript ( no I didn't write it) and had a few WTF moments. |

He wouldn't, but that doesn't really fit the narrative does it? |

I don't get what you're all reading. Pretty much Blot is saying "screw the lefties who hate you, give us conservatives what we want".
In effect letting Abbott know he's never going to win any friends to the left of Malcolm Turnbull so stop trying and start doing what a Liberal government should be doing, which is lowering spending and taxes and shrinking government.
What we have at the moment is a bizarre version of Howard's culture war but without any culture, just some unpopular and unwanted ideology mixed in with Big Government spying, spending and lack of vision. |

Despite what Wokko says an undeclared and gift of $60,000+ is against the rules of the Australian Parliament and fits the "Tony Abbott is a self-righteous idiot with his snout firmly lodged in the trough" narrative to a tee!
Members have to declare their financial interests (including gifts) not just to themselves but also gifts to their family.
At the time of Francis gaining that err "scholarship" she was finishing high-school and was a wholly dependent on her father's finances.

Register of Members' Interests
43rd Parliament: Members' Interests statements
Within 28 days of making an oath or affirmation, each Member is required to provide to the Registrar of Members' Interests a statement of the Member’s registrable interests. The registrable interests of which the Member is aware of the Member’s spouse and any children wholly or mainly dependent on the Member for support must also be included in the statement. The statement is to include:...

Her scholarship was not granted on any merit except she was Abbott's daughter and the possibilities that connection might mean for the school involved.

A few years later, in the run-up to the 2013 federal election, Ms Whitehouse became increasingly excited at the prospect of a Liberal win, the staffer said.

Jones's listeners would probably rather eat razorblades than vote Labor, even in protest. I doubt Abbott will lose too much sleep over raising the old fool's ire.
Now, if Murdoch turns against him, that'll be a different story. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I've pointed this out before, but when Gillard faced the polls against Abbott, the Herald Sun editorial said to vote Labor.
If you want to look for it, I posted a link previously. |

They also backed Rudd in 2007, I believe. Both won their respective elections. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
