Correct David but why was no one complaining back then? _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Because Conservatives scoff into their port while smoking a cigar in their leather chairs, leftists post about it on twitter. |

In neither case did Murdoch or his newspapers publicly campaign for a leader. As is the norm amongst "serious" news media outlets (or ones that aspire to being taken seriously, in any event), they reported each election in a relatively even-handed manner and left their endorsement for a small editorial column on Election Day. At least, that's how I recall it.
Compare with the 2013 election, in which the Murdoch tabloids spent the bulk of the three years trying to tear the government down, culminating in a two or three month period towards the end where their front pages descended into outright barracking.
This may have been before or after their "Rudd's a Nazi/communist" photoshopping efforts. And the "serious" Murdoch newspaper "declaring war against the Greens".
Some people expect a little more balance from our country's most read newspapers. But they probably shouldn't. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Don't expect too much from your fellow countrymen, if the media and politicians that survive in our country are any indication of our collective grey matter, then we are sadly lacking. |

Looks like the Media can smell blood in the water.

Quote: | The trouble started when Abbott accused the Labor Opposition of acting feral.
Karl responded with this: With respect, you were fairly feral in Opposition werent you
why would [Bill Shorten] do anything different when it worked for you?
Then he hooked into the budget: The reality is here that the budget position is in a shambles and every day it does get worse. No one is buying what youre selling. |

Because Conservatives scoff into their port while smoking a cigar in their leather chairs, leftists post about it on twitter. |
And create facebook groups about destroying joints, do online petitions, post endless news articles that support them to all their Facebook friends and then sleep the sleep of the just at night knowing that no-one is working harder than them to stop these injustices.

Sadly I can't say she's wrong with a lot of what she's said to be honest. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

She sounds as if she should be in the LDP - hard-right economics and medium-left social policies are what she's after, apparently. Why did she join the Liberals anyway? _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Tea Party USA would be a good fit. Neither bears any resemblance to the glory days of the Libs.
The ideologically crazy right wing characterised in form by the IPA & Tea party have little is anything to do with what most of use know about the Libs.
They they are shocked subsequently. Puuurlease _________________ âI even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didnât keep âem under long enoughâ Kinky Friedman |
