Games against any of the other likely 5-8 teams aren't too daunting by comparison to playing top 4 sides. Essendon probably the toughest prospect on recent form. A lot will depend on how the other teams get through the next 4 rounds in terms of player availability and form.
WCEs this Sunday first. |

If we made the finals I reckon North Melbourne just because of how inconsistent they've been this season. If North produced the kind of football that we witnessed against Hawthorn, Fremantle (in Perth) and Sydney (in Sydney) then I can't see us winning but if we see them produce the kind of football that saw them lose to Carlton, Brisbane, Gold Coast and of course ourselves in round 5 then I think we're a great chance. Also adding to the fact that the game would be played in Melbourne is a big motivator of preferring to play North Melbourne over Port Adelaide in the finals if we end up making the top 8.
I wouldn't be upset to play Port Adelaide even up in South Australia purely because they're so out of form as we speak and look burnt out after a massive start to the season, but there's no doubt that they'd be tougher to play up in Adelaide as opposed to Melbourne. I couldn't bear to play Essendon in the finals and imagine if they beat us again like they did a few weeks ago.
Anyway in saying all of this we need to beat the Eagles today to give ourselves a massive chance in ensuring that we play finals football. I really hope we do everything we can to play finals this year as it's absolutely invaluable for the young players and it creates a culture of finals being the norm amongst the football club. Having finals experience between 2006 to 2009 was hugely beneficial in us winning the flag in 2010 so I don't want to see us not putting in 100% in the last four Home and Away matches this season. Finals football is extremely beneficial to the development of our young side. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Did you not read my post? |
Yes I did read your post and I know you were posing a hypothetical question, but I'm still slightly worried that we're not going to be there and I'd feel more comfortable about answering it if we win our next few games.
Oh but what the hell... I will anyway. So just for the hell of it, I would like to finish 5th and face richmond in the first week. |

Port would be a good battle too but over there. I want them on their own turf and for us to hand them their first finals defeat at their new home. That would be perfect. |

Can we get a first rd bye in the finals ? Lol well I don't care who we play I just want to make it first then see what happens.
But I'll agree north would be a good match up as I believe they are chokers under pressure.
Port in Adelaide would be a challenge but I think we are capable of winning that too.
Just beat wet toast today and then get 2 more wins over Brions and GWS and let the rest take care of itself. |

Would love to get a chance at revenge on Port for last year. To beat them in SA would be fantastic.
But I WOULD LOVE to get a chance at Essendon. Imagine beating them in an elimination final. Oh that would be sweet.
If you're simply asking who the easiest opponent would be, then yes, it's North. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |
