This really shits me.

Cats are still in contention, 3 years after they beat us to the 2011 flag with an ageing list.

Yet, the Pies have slowly been falling away, where we could miss the finals for the first time since 2005.

Outside of injuries, what have the Pies done wrong?

Very different, the Cats undoubtedly STILL depend on their ageing list guys to get them over the line, guys like sellwood, stevie j, bartel, lonergan, Kelly, stokes, taylor, invariably get them the win, game after game. They may be old for footy, but they are still great players, whereas with us Maxy has gone, Ball is now iffy, Lynch is finished, as is Hudson. Swan is injury prone. I don't rate the Cats kids aside from Guthrie, Murdoch, they are certainly not better than ours, and we have far more kids than them out there now, we have one of the youngest lists in the League now.

Good points there list is much olde than ours and when they loss Bartel, Johnson, Mackie, Stokes, Taylor, Lonegran, Kelly, Selwood, McIntosh all within the next 3yrs let's see who's list is in contention then.
I rate Caddy as well as Guthrie and Murdoch outside of that they will need some huge recruitment in the next couple years or they will dive deep

The cats have a culture and a group of senior players that got them 3 flags, there ability to stay in serious contention is remarkable and it's the level we are aiming for into the near future.

Stephe Wells and Derek Hine are on par as recruitment managers. Where Geelong and Collingwood differ is where we traded three of our stars for high draft picks and another in Shaw traded for Adams, who is yet to establish himself in the team. The experience coming into the club, by way of fringe mature age recruits, doesn't equate to the talent leaving the club. Hence, we are where we are and deserve to be. Where we are in one, two or three years, in relation to Geelong's position on the ladder, will depend on the development of the young recruits Hine has recruited.

Give us 7 home games a year at Vic Park and see how we'd go, they have the greatest advantage of any Victorian side, they get a leg up each year.

The Cats won't win another flag with this group, if they fluked it into the grand final this year they'd be crushed by either of the two standout sides.

They've done well to remain a top four team but they aren't a flag threat, and they won't be in the foreseeable future either.

I'd place a bet with anyone that come 2016 and 2017 we will finish ahead of the Cats both seasons.

We cut deeper into out list than they did, moving on Dawes, Thomas, Wellingham and Shaw, as well as a few earlier retirements (all of our plus 30s retired. The Cats have kept going). Still, there's no doubt the Geelong rebuild is something like what we're going for. We expected to still be challenging in the last couple of years. Injuries and issues between the coach and players have prevented that. So far our mini-rebuild has failed, but the list is good enough to bounce back quickly.

AGree that Playing at Kardina Park get’s them more Wins they would normally have. You could Half there Wins.

Agree if we played at Vic Park we would just about win every single games.

We see how they are going in the Finals then

Cat’s got rid of Old Codgers that are just about finished in Chapman,Hunt and Pods. West was not a best 22 player.

All those players we got rid of are potential Best 22 players for us and still where in there prime

Cats were ALWAYS more talented than us. They are a true dynasty.

Comparing us to them will always make us look ordinary. Why not compare us to the other teams that were fighting for those premierships?

How are the Saints and Doggies going right now?

Let's have a look at the players in Geelong's backline this year as opposed to who has players in ours:
Taylor, Lonergan, Mackie, Rivers, Enright and Kelly

Langdon Keefe Williams
Seedsman Frost Young

There it is really. A bunch of 30 year old all Australians as compared to a bunch of players who are starting their careers really.

Selwood is younger than Pendles.

He has years left.
