First game for the year, just what I expected. Looking forward to see him running off half back next year.
On a different note like the Fas's highlights, back to the seniors this week. Can't wait to see a player hit a target, will he play back or forward? _________________ "Still waiting for your call Caroline ... not a quote in sight. Don't ever presume to speak on Collingwood's behalf," |

Skinny no muscle and slow, why do we have so many players like this.
Do we have a weights coach at the club? |
He's only a kid, not all teenagers have the capacity to put on muscle bulk easily.
Also, he's not a KPP, he's an onballer/flanker type. In general these kinds of players are training for endurance and repeat efforts, so they avoid bulking up. The two don't really work together.
Looked OK to me, first game against men after a long lay off, I'm happy to give him time. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Why do they put such moments in 'highlights' reels? |

Agree his best place at this stage wold be half back flank. Freeman has elite speed apparently (finished 2nd in the 20m shuttle sprints if memory serves me correct)
I could see Scharenberg playing as a outside mid. We need to find a real see ball get ball type like a dangerfield (no I'm not saying trade for dangerfield) I'm saying I think we need that type.
Beams, Pendles and sidey can all use the ball well when given time to look they generally select the right option. Broomheads pass to White the other night was fantastic hope to see it much more in coming years.
We need pace pace and more pace that's one of our biggest weaknesses.
Anyways I won't be judging Scharenberg until I see him with a full pre season and some games at AFL level under his belt.
I hope the hype around the kid is right if so we have a beaut on our hands. |

I was not having a go at Scharenberg, I was having a go at the video editor.
They are, in general, nowhere near selective enough.
If you can't round up enough footage without including 3 metre turnover kicks or that passage of play which he ran along with without participating, just can the video altogether. _________________ they can smell what we're cookin' |

To be fair I think this package was put together solely to show his total involvements for the match and not just his best ones.
Given the anticipated wait I can understand that. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

They should do one of those for Blair.

Thanks Dave! Great link.
Very good to see a package that isn't just highlights - any tool can look like a genius on a highlights reel. Nope: here we saw where he is up to: right out of it, slow, a bit lost, making a few mistakes, lacking touch. We also saw - when I say "we" I mean those with a few clues about the game - the talent underlying. First game at this level, boy against men, first game after a very, very long injury, but even so you could see the composure, the quick hands, the easy, economical style, the natural sense of unhurried positioning: he reminds me of Shane Morewood or Jimmy Clement or (amongst current players) Pendlebury.
No guarantee he'll be as good as any of those champions, of course, but it's easy to see why he went top 10 in the draft. I reckon he'll be our ultimate more-than-Maxwell replacement, a utility defender who can play small or tall, slip forward and take a mark, even go into the middle for a spell, but is best employed in that nameless in-between tallish-medium roaming role - not a KP tall, not a classic small, not a midfielder but a bit of each of these and it's a real and important role previously played by (among others) Goodes, Hird, Goddard, and Clement. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

What's really great about the footage is just to see him out there playing really.
Not much to say about the action other than, I thought he looked composed and comfortable in his first VFL senior game and that is a very positive sign. |
