Very dissapointed again today and I dont know what to say , but if that was finals pressure we are a long way off it at moment.

Umps didnt help but Asselaide was far better in most areas today and 5 posters attests to that.

Back to drawing board but handover looking a flop tonight as we sit outside top 8 and a fearful reminder of tony shaws coaching tenure when an ex-captain takes over as coach at the team he played at.

Not sure how many flags in past 50 years have come from it.

Maybe jezza is about it, but he was a playing coach. does any one know?

Woosha and Roos are two of the more recent ones.

Ah, I forgot about Roos. I remembered Worsfold tho.

I guess the question is, how many club captains have coached and failed?

Voss? Shaw?

The following were captains of their clubs as players and then coached that same club to premierships.
Jock McHale (Coll) coached 8, Phonse Kyne (Coll) coached 2, Norm Smith (Melb) coached 6, Reg Hickey (Gee) coached 2, Dick Reynolds (Ess) coached 4, Jack Dyer (Ric) coached 1, Fred Hughson (Fit) coached 1, John Kennedy (Haw) coached 3, Robert Walls (Car) coached 1, Ron Barassi (Car) coached 2 at Car, John Nicholls (Car) coached 1, David Parkin (Haw) coached 1 at Haw, Bob Davis (Gee) coached 1, Charlie Sutton (Foo) coached 1 with the already mentioned Paul Roos & John Worsfold. (+ I may have missed some).

Plenty did, but granted of late the instance is nowhere near as common as it once was.

The notion of a past player or captain not winning flags as a coach is a misnomer. The more relevant question is can he coach?

The jury seems to clearing its throat right now on Buckley, but you'll have to get rid of Eddie first for anything to happen.

Pathetic. Obviously Eddie will outlive the reign of Stalin and Castro put together. Who elected him President for Life?! Good luck expecting something to happen every year then. Rolling Eyes
