Tommy Erdelyi was the last surviving member of the seminal punk rock band The Ramones died on the week-end.
He played on their first few albums and wrote many of their greatest hits.
Tony Ramone didn't enjoy the performing so he became the bands producer and later manager.
I saw the Ramones many times (but never with Tommy on drums) and even though the gigs were short on time they were high on energy.
It's hard to underestimate the influence this band had on the music scene then, and to still to this day.
Vale Tommy Erdelyi Ramone...(and Dee-Dee, Joey and Johnny).
(3 the original band members, Joey and Dee-Dee both died about 10 years ago and Johnny a few years after that).

The Ramones are dead and My world is a sadder place today.

Sorry for your loss, pi. The Ramones weren't really my thing but I understand how rotten it is when your heroes check out. Play a few of their albums really loud - that should help.

I'll pay my respects by listening to Blitzkrieg Bop before I go to bed tonight.
