The problem is you get the impression this whole thing is mired in a complex web of racism/nationalism (no reflection on most posters in this thread).
You've traditional anti-Semitism, which shows little sign of abating, then you've got far right Israeli exceptionalist nutters, rabid Islamic fundamentalists and Westernophobes, rightist Western Islamophobes—many of whom would otherwise be anti-Semites!, general Western imperialists, apocalyptic Christian nutters, and generationally-inbred conflict addicts who are still fighting for grandad's honour.
Now, that is one giant pit of bigotry and stress. Throw in the usual money and power-grabbing scum, and all the legitimate stress and suffering, and it's very hard to get any sense of clarity.

Yeah, because the moment you're born in Australia all the heritage and culture of your forefathers (which means something to a lot of people, myself included) is completely wiped clean and you have no right to feel or claim any connection to it.

How many civilians and children are you willing to kill to stop rockets that kill almost no one? The answer from Israel is, at least: 518 civilians, 170 of whom are children. This is to go with the over 1,400 Palestinians killed in 2009.
There have been just 3 Israeli citizens killed in the current conflict.

How about you include all Israeli deaths as we have no idea who are "military" deaths on the cowardly Palestinian side as they do not differentiate themselves from civilians. |

It's a well known and oft used tactic. Extract maximum sympathy for your cause by making sure the big nasty opposition takes out women and kids.
How better to make sure that Isreal takes out women and kids than by firing your own rockets (indiscriminately I might add) from places that contain women and children. Straight away you conflict your enemy, they either fire back knowing there's woman and children there, attracting media condemnation, or they don't fire back and suck it up because they don't want the bad press. In this situation, Hamas win either way. They're obviously happy to sacrifice a few civilians for the cause and happy to aim their own rockets and bombs at civilian targets, but they get all the sympathy.

And how many civilians do they kill with their civilian targeted rockets? Virtually zero.

Sure it is. It's also often used as propaganda by opposition forces. Who's to know how much of it is truth and how much embellishment or mistaken intelligence from Israel? They supposedly thought they were targeting militants when they blew up 4 young boys playing on the beach.
The fact is that many hundreds of civilians, including 170 children, are being killed on the Paelestinian side. Almost zero are being killed on the Israeli side. All to stop rockets that rarely kill. Disproportionate much?

Simple solution. Hamas stop firing rockets, they stop coming back.
Why hasn't that happened? They sook about the civilians who get killed but they keep shooting the rockets off from civilian areas.

Last night, the UN's Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said that, as of yesterday morning, 149 children had been killed, compared with 87 confirmed members of armed groups.
Both sides should be absolutely ashamed!!!

Personally? I'll keep retaliating until you stop. If the rockets Hamas are firing are so innocuous, achieve nothing etc then stop *&^*(&%$% firing them. Simple.

| They're firing rockets because they're being kept locked up in a ghetto with not enough food, power and medicine. They're under a trade blockade and are unable to work or travel freely. What Hamas is doing is resisting the only way they can. How about Israel lifts their blockade on Gaza and stop treating it like a concentration camp. |
