The wrist operations have resulted in limited movement ...
Quote: | Collingwood midfielder Dane Swan will never regain full use of his wrists after undergoing off-season surgery.
Swan's left wrist reconstruction late last year followed a similar operation on his right wrist several years ago.
While he can use his wrists to flex his hands backwards, as can happen in marking contests or when cushioning a fall, he cannot bend them the other way. |

I don't know what Swan's injury was, but I know in some conditions they will fuse joints to stop pain. Perhaps they had to do something similar for Swanny.
When you add this to the glandular fever that Swan had before Xmas and the suggested bone spur on his heel and another foot injury it's remarkable that he can play at all.
It seems logical for him to rest out the season, but it may be Swan and not the club that's behind his decision to struggle on. I'm sure that sitting out the rest of the year and simply training and doing rehab would seem like the worst possible result to Dane.
Who knows where that kind of boredom would lead him? He'd probably move into Mick Gatto's house. |

No chance he will play against Crows
It's a win-win situation.
If we beat them without them then great - he's had 2 weeks rest.
If we lose, our season is over and he can go in for surgery and get right for next season.
Either way it's not a big loss. |

Does this fix take medical science to a new level. There is only so much you can do with flesh, artificial components and bone. |

It's enlightening to know there are so many qualified orthopedic surgeons on Nicks. Thanks for the well informed opinions on Swanny's medical treatment. Much appreciated. |
