So we're agreed; Swan to be hung by his nuts from a lamp post in front of the Lexus Centre as a way of appeasing the football Gods

What a sad thread. Yes a bit off his game but just ask yourselves this. Is he still in our best 22? Of course the answer is yes. Champions rise and Swanny will rise.

Well let's just get rid of Bucks and you coach the side mate. Bucks picks the best 22 and if Swan isn't there next week, I'll concede that you know better.

Firstly this thread is not about Bucks so don't try that.
Secondly Swanny is not playing to his usual standard.
Thirdly this is not about me knowing better this is a forum discussing ideas or at least that is what I thought, am I wrong?

I certainly think he has an injury issue of some kind as he's made uncharacteristic fumbles this season and he looks slow out of the blocks as opposed to previous years. If it's an injury, at least it explains his poor form but if he's just declining in general without any injury to explain his form then it's sad to watch him decline like this.

I've heard some rumours about Swan having continuing leg issues but there's no verification of this though. Assuming he does have a leg injury at least it explains his inability to burst out of the blocks with great endurance and his inability to chase his opponents down. What worries me though is his fumbling of the ball is becoming more frequent than it has in other years.

I wouldn't oppose dropping him if he doesn't have an injury, but if he has an injury I'd rather let him rest to get the treatment he requires so he can be fully fit rather than only being 70 to 80% fit for every game for the rest of the year.

My point is he remains in our best 22. End of story

Not on today's performance, 19 scratchy disposals at around 50%DE and he didn't hit the scoreboard, laid 1 tackle and fumbled everything, his form is a massive concern.

I think a lot of you are underestimating the wrist surgery he had, he's lost partial movement in his wrists and apparently can't bend his hands back (away from the palm) past the straight position. Almost like he has permanent bowling braces on his wrists.

Now imagine trying to mark or handle a ball cleanly with that handicap.

Hopefully he can find a way to adapt but it will be a slow (and I imagine confidence draining) process.

I am not willing to concede on Swan's career yet.
He did little pre-season, mostly due to glandular fever.
Is he still afflicted with it?
His listless displays would suggest so.

this is no different to previous threads. One can't age that quickly. he is clearly not right physically.

really does affect our so called great mid field. Only Swannie provided the pace of the pendles\swan\beams\sidebottom quartet.

Without his old self, we are labouring

the most troubling thing is that he is fumbling the ball.
He was always a one grab player!
I remember Clement just before he retired he found it hard to bend down and pick up the ball
Swanny looks the same.

Oh come off it. We are at round 15 or 16 now aren't we? Can't use that anymore.
Either he is carrying an injury or he should be playing VFL.
If he is carrying an injury then he should be sent straight to surgery.
He isn't giving us anything - including effort.

The Footy Show a few weeks ago showed him playing mid-week golf with Sam Newman.

He sure wasn't struggling to grip the driver on the tee.

The weak wrist excuse was always bullshit. As is the hobbling around gripping his groin.

He's lazy now and more interested in planning his nightclub ownership post footy.
