This makes me sad. Was convinced he would go another year after his stellar form earlier in the year.
I now have another reason to hate the Danihers.
Thanks for everything Maxy |

Thanks for all your hard work Maxy, a sad day, but not many leave a Premiership Captain and Magpie Legend.

Sad day for the club.Maxy was a player who certainly got the most out of his ability.A great and courageous leader of the club, who was always did the best by his team mates.
He will go down in history as an immortal, because he was one of those very rare things-a Collingwood premiership captain!
Well done on your career,Maxy, and enjoy your retirement! |

I am always sad to see one of our players retire. This time is all the sadder as he was also a captain of a premiership winning team. Well done and congratulations to Nick Maxwell on an excellent career in AFL and best wishes to him for all of his future endeavours. _________________ Side by Side |

Maxwell got the best out of himself as a player and proved to be a fine leader of men.
His best football was good enough to see him awarded the individual honour of an All Australian guernsey whilst he proved to be an integral part of our team in 2010 which of course tasted premiership glory.
Those achievements alone are pretty remarkable for a player who had to take the hard road to win a place on to an AFL list and in those early years there looked to be real doubt he would make it far and and enjoy a successful career.
It's safe to say he did, he retires a Collingwood premiership captain and if for nothing else that alone commands our thanks and respect. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Respect and admiration are the two words that come to mind. Not blessed with the skills or finesse of some players, but with an over powering desire to achieve all he and his team mates could. A fierce competitor, loyal team mate, respected by all Collingwood people and a wonderful premiership captain. _________________ Is there any place you would rather be, than with me at the MCG? |

Hard work and determination let you achieve the greatest suscess that the AFL has. You stuck it up all the haters. Best wishes. |

Premiership captain, rare thing at Collingwood, a live one I mean. Will be missed for a fair while, as our list gets younger again still. Will be a future assistant coach, with us, I reckon, lock that one in now.! _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Says it all, 3rd. Nick, you have been a champion, and a champion servant of the club. We will miss you more than we know. So pleased that your last year was a great year and you went out at the top of your form. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives!
