It has come a Real Pleasure to watch this kid play his 1st 5 Games.

Uses the Ball so well. Reads it as well too. Has good Speed.

Give him 50 games and he can be top 20 player in the Comp.

Sign him up on a 3-4 Year Deal Pies

I've loved watching this kid this year. He's been a huge positive for us and he just reinforces that we've done well in our recruiting in the past few years under Derek Hine.

I can't wait to see what he can produce after more games experience. I believe we have a real gem on our hands who isn't afraid to go in hard for the contest, has genuine pace and his ball use is really good for the amount of experience he has!

Like Flashman, I'm a believer! Cool

You read it here first.

You know, I have a quiet feeling in the back of my mind that the dark horse in the senior selection race hasn't been mentioned. No real evidence, just a gut feeling, but I reckon by the time we are talking about the 2014 side, possibly even the side for late this year, we will be be looking at a quiet achiever named Tim Broomhead.

Bookmark this post if you like, it will be interesting to see how the lad goes. I just reckon he has a look of steely whatever-it-takes determination in his eye and that, like Goldsack and Blair and Toovey, he'll just keep putting his hand up 'till he's in the side for keeps.

He doesn't over celebrate a goal does he?

He reminds me of Stuey Macgill when he took a wicket and intsead of celebrating he looked pissed off.

It shows to me this kid isn't worried about personal glory but is all about the net result ie victory for his team. Bloody terrific attitude to have.

He has a lot of Sidebottom about him. Same size and shape, moves the same, looks the same, is highly skilled but unlike Sidebottom he can kick 50m. I like him, he is one of the very few genuine A-grade potentials we have coming through.

I recall around the time we drafted him, Wells of Geelong recruiting rated him.

Thought that spoke volumes about the lad then.

From J Burnett the Collingwood Blogspot draft day 2012:

"Draft Pick #20: Tim Broomhead (Wing/Midfielder / 182cm / 75kg)

The saturation of phantom drafts on message boards and in the media at large prior to every draft always sets the scene for an uproar when a name is called out seemingly ahead of schedule. This year, it was Tim Broomhead who took out the dual honour of being the unexpected Hine smoky slash somewhat amusing surname award.
For the thousands of Magpie fans who had tuned in, expecting to hear one of ten surnames we had become familiar with even coveted in the last month, the selection had everyone hitting up Google for information. Not to mention a few convinced that Hine may have betrayed us. I admit to being surprised by the Broomhead selection and given Hines pause at the last of our first round selections, it was certainly a decision that came on the back of a some quick, yet notable deliberation.
I remember vividly the 2005 draft, Hines second at the club, and how so many Magpie supporters were convinced we had thrown away our future with our first two selections. Taking Dale Thomas at draft pick #2 ahead of the expected sure bet in Xavier Ellis was criminally negligent; taking the basketball blow in Scott Pendlebury a few selections later was treasonous.
We all know how that panned out and since, most reserve their judgement.
The fact is, as eager and enthusiastic as all football fans are when it comes to judging young talent and predicting their eventual whereabouts, few of us spend the incredible amount of time that professional recruiters do in watching and analysing these youngsters, nor do we have the same access.
At the conclusion of the draft, word has circulated that the likes of Essendon and Port Adelaide were both interested in Broomhead but perhaps the biggest and most assuring nod of all has come from Geelong recruiter Stephen Wells, who claimed Broomhead was in the mix at their first selection and would have likely been their next target.
If theres one recruiter whose record stands up against Hines and if youll forgive the blasphemy for a moment, perhaps even surpasses it, it would be Wells.
Broomhead represented SA at the U18 championships and has also played some senior SANFL football with Port Adelaide. A predominantly outside midfielder who spent most of his time on a wing for Port Adelaide given his light frame; Broomheads pace, awareness and ball use have been noted as his best attributes.
It became apparent this year that we were lacking some pace, not to mention foot skills. Broomhead appears to be a player who could potentially address both areas, but similar to Seedsman before him hell need at least a year or so to put on some much needed weight"

When he gets 50 games front and center of Cloke and Reid with Elliot to one side we will have the forward line we have wanted for years.
