Because there is always a chance that the owner of any other movie you have previously downloaded can also retrospectively get your details and issue more notices.
For example, let's pretend that I have downloaded 10 movies without hiding my IP address and I receive my first notice. There are 9 other movies I could potentially get picked up for at any time. |

In Aus, they can only come after you for potential lost money on what they would have received, had you gone to the movies or something to see it. |
So $50 at most for a Fine?
Do you have a Source Saying That? _________________ I am Da Man |

I don't have a link.
I believe it's the law.
If it's for our own use, I'm fairly sure they can only come after us for the amount lost to them by the sale.
Unless it changes next week, then we're all £$%$ed; in the long run.
Though I haven't downloaded this movie, so I'm safe. |

The proposal to start charging GST on netflix, itunes etc will make more people download illegally. It will be the modern form of the Eureka Stockade. |

I don't necessarily oppose the idea, but I agree that it's certainly poor timing if they're wanting to crack down on illegal downloading. The big studios would be furious at the government if they institute this now. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

No, Dave. It is so people buy movies and DVDs legally and pay GST. |
