It's a shame they don't have the same concerns about what the Banks are doing with honest workers savings. Rolling Eyes

Yep, and the debt enslavement of young Australians who do not own a property through an outrageous tax preferment for investors in existing residential property. I have several circles of hell, and banks are down there near Lucifer's head. But at least everyone knows banks are greedy self-seeking bad actors.

Sorry, under the current compliance regime, there is no way in Hell that sitting an 8 hour course qualifies anyone to to be a financial advisor.

You may be mistaking '8 hours' with '8 units', which the current Diploma of Financial Planning runs to.

Basically a full year of full time study as a minimum. And given most advisors work in para-planning roles while undertaking their DFP, it's realistically 2 years of study while working in a practice and getting on the job training.

My bad.

I figured as it's an internet course with very few wrong answers, 8 hours is probably how long it will take most people to complete it.

If I'm going to be wrong, I'd rather be wildly wrong.

LOL.

Vic branch of the CFMEU under scrutiny.

Quote:
THE CFMEU has been accused of blackmail and cartel behaviour in explosive testimony from Boral chief executive Mike Kane at the Royal Commission in Melbourne.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/cfmeu-state-secretary-john-setka-accused-of-blackmailing-boral/story-fni0fit3-1226981496886

No one who has had any dealings with this mob would find any of the allegations remotely surprising. The spirit of Norm Gallagher lives on in the CFMEU.

Yet for some reason Daniel Andrews is making overtures to them to get them back into the fold. Confused for a smart campaigner, that's a dumb move.

Isn't it amazing the Unions are on trial that cannot defend themselves whilst greedy Grocon who failed in their duty of care simply get away with killing innocent people when a wall collapses on them. No royal commission into the Commonwealth Bank yet they are allowed to have an internal investigation.

Stui, we have two sets of rules being applied.

Quite possibly we do. I'm not arguing that the royal commission isn't a set up, but I find it actually funny that no one is trying to say that the allegations against unions would be wrong or trumped up, the first line of defence is to argue why aren't others being reviewed too.

To me that's tantamount to an admission that people know the stuff unions are being accused of is true but they'd prefer to turn a blind eye to it.

Or, perhaps that there are bigger fish to fry? All property is theft, Stui.

The first part depends on perspective. As for the second, good luck with that argument. Maybe someone at the Melbourne Anarchists club has heard of Proudhon.

^^^ Well, which part of Australia's mineral resources do you think Gina (or her late, {insert appropriate epithet here} father) "earned"?

Not having that argument about Gina specifically or mining in general other than to say that the government of the day makes the laws and people buy stuff according to those laws, individual philosophical bent not withstanding.
