So, after conceding 5 goals in the space of 18 minutes, Brazil trails the Germans by that margin after half an hour. Their defence didn't come today.
This one is over.

Never seen anything like it. 6-nil and still 20 minutes to play. Abject capitulation by Brazil. Total football suicide.

Germans haven't been this ruthless since Hitler invaded Poland! Razz

My run continues -13 tips in a row now. I also posted that if Germany score first Brazil would get the jitters and that Fred & Hulk are next to useless at this level.
Hulk subbed out at half time after not touching the ball. Fred lasted longer but also did not register a single shot (on or off target). But can't lay all blame with them. The Brazilian defense were statues, Luiz never marked anyone and the clever pass & run game swept over Brazil like they were witches hats on a training ground.
But did I see this coming...jitters is one thing, complete capitulation no way.

I know next to nothing about the "world game" but Brazil despite reaching this stage never looked all that impressive and it's no surprise to see them opened up by a German team who can exploit weakness better than any other.

To me Brazil always resemble a team who relies on the brillance of the individual rather than cohesive team play.

The Germans on the other hand despite obviously having a bunch of talented players are clinical when it comes to structures.

I guess that's always been the German way and why they've been very successful at the world cup finals.

I think that's an apt description of THIS Brazil, swoop - but it wasn't always so. Their forwards apart from Neymar have fired blanks all tournament.

The Germans tend to play to their strengths and within their limitations. I hadn't really pictured them as potential champions but I suppose Messi or Robben will be less imposing if their legs are kicked out from under them throughout the Final. I'm not advocating that, by the way - I'll be supporting whichever team gets through from the Holland side of the draw.

I'm shocked by the scoreline but I'm not surprised about Germany winning as I expected them to advance to the Final after Brazil lost Neymar and Thiago Silva to injury and suspension from their previous match against Columbia. Brazilian football will really need a big rebuild in my opinion. I wasn't convinced by them at the start of the tournament but they kept progressing along the way but last night just demonstrated how far away they are from being number 1 again in the future.

Germany were at their ruthless best and if they play like that on Sunday in the Final then it's hard to see either the Netherlands or Argentina from stopping them. I tipped the Germans to win the World Cup at the start of the tournament as they have the perfect blend of youth and experience. Also well done to German striker Miroslav Klose who has become the all-time leading goalscorer in World Cup history as he surpassed Ronaldo's record from Brazil!
