What a goal by Tim Cahill and what a fantastic display by Australia despite falling short in the end. Very proud of the way we played on the world stage and wouldn't it be great to beat Spain to cap off a decent tournament for the country despite not advancing to the knockout stages.

Wow. Tim Cahill just proves he is the greatest soccer player ever produced in Australia. What a champion! How sad he bows out now following his two (soft) yellow cards.

But there are exciting days ahead for Australia now that Ange is in change. What a coach!

This World Cup is exceeding all expectations as far as Australia's performance, the quality of games (attack is the new mantra) and skill.

The only constant in this Cup from the last few is that England once again proves what plodders they are on the world stage. They have the best domestic competition in the world in the EPL, but all those great foreign players are not allowing the young English lads to develop.

And hate him or not, Luis Suarez sure is a goal kicking machine. What irony that his second goal was scored today from a back header by Steven Gerrard. Embarassed

Incredibly difficult & unique job = national coach.
Postecoglu so far has done incredibly well. He has stamped a brand on the team - one that does not focus on defense. We can never progress if we build our strategy on the idea that we are deficient. Disappointed that we are out in straight sets, but the coaching, selection, structures & organization of the team have been first class.

After another massive day of football yesterday, we have three matches coming up today starting with Italy and Costa Rica which the English will be nervously watching as a draw in that game will officially end any hopes for them to reach the last 16. Following that we have a great game coming up in group E between the highly-fancied Switzerland and France who are capable of producing anything and to round out the day Honduras take on Ecuador in the other Group E game.

Italy v Costa Rica - Group D

Switzerland v France - Group E

Honduras v Ecuador - Group E

Amazing to think that Cahill has scored more world cup goals than C. Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney.
