With the gaffs coming quick and strong I think he's entitled to his own thread.

To start things off,

todays Australian...

PRIME Minister Tony Abbott stumbled on his higher education budget reforms yesterday when he said changes to fees, tuition loans and government subsidies would only apply to students who enrolled after 2016.

In an interview on ABC Radio, Mr Abbott indicated it was vice-chancellors who were confused when they said they had to start setting fees immediately so students knew what they were up for come 2016.

“It’s possible that (students and vice-chancellors) haven’t quite cottoned on to that fact, but if you are studying now your conditions of study won’t change,” Mr Abbott told radio host Jon Faine. “If you start next year, your conditions of study won’t change, it’s only for those who start when these changes kick in 2016 that we’ll have the different conditions applying to them.”
But the government’s own website said any changes would apply to students who enrolled after 13 May 2014.

It's his policy and that was last week!

Well our PM is making news all over the world as being inept and unpopular.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/05/22/how-australias-winking-tony-abbott-became-one-of-the-worlds-most-unpopular-prime-ministers/

Quote:
Abbott’s also restored the honorific title of “dame.” But some women, it turns out, don’t much like the guy either. Here’s some classic Abbottisms on women, sex, and gays:

1970s: ”I think it would be folly to expect that women will ever dominate or even approach equal representation in a large number of areas simply because their aptitudes, abilities and interests are different for physiological reasons.”

2002: Virginity “is the greatest gift you can give someone.”

2010: ”What the housewives of Australia need to understand as they do the ironing is that if they get it done commercially it’s going to go up in price and their own power bills when they switch the iron on are going to go up.”

2010: ”I probably feel a bit threatened” by homosexuals.

So come on everyone, unleash the howls of disapproval and indignation for this free ride. We hate welfare cheats, but good on a Liberal Party donor for secretly awarding $60,000 to Abbotts daughter. It's especially good seeing, no one knew, it was kept quiet and the Institution states that no scholarships are available. Other students asked for financial scholarships and were told none were available. Students with better marks didn't get any assistance.
The Age of Entitlement is over! We all must carry the load! Heavy lifting is needed!
And by the way, thanks for the secret $60,000, we appreciate it greatly. Now back to screwing the pensioners, the ill and welfare recipients.

Really emblematic of the privileges afforded to those in our society who come from wealthy/elite backgrounds. I wouldn't necessarily be pointing the finger at Tony for this, but somebody certainly needs to be held accountable.

It's very poor if Abbott's daughter hasn't received this scholarship through her own merit, but if it's genuine then what's the problem so to speak.

Oh and Dave you mean 'disgusting' not 'digesting' Wink

For those that have trouble understanding the difference between what the Government says and what it "means"*.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-22/clarke-and-dawe--selling-the-budget-take-2-this/5470530

* Honest Abb blamed the voters for "mis-understandings" regarding broken promises.
What he said and what he meant were actually 2 different things.

Apparently it was all your fault.

DFAT anger over Louise Abbott's foreign affairs job

Some Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade staff are annoyed Prime Minister Tony Abbott's daughter Louise is working at Australia's embassy in Geneva, which is headed by former Coalition staffer Peter Woolcott.

But a spokesman for DFAT said the job helping represent Australia to the United Nations was awarded on the basis of merit.

Jealousy over plum jobs in overseas locations was a staple of workplace life at DFAT, but departmental insiders said there were concerns over Ms Abbott being hired in Geneva, given the political connections of the mission's boss.

Mr Woolcott was chief of staff to foreign minister Alexander Downer from 2002 to 2004 while on secondment from the department. He had been a career officer for the department since the early 1980s.

There was internal disquiet at DFAT in Canberra about what some staff saw as a lack of transparency in the hiring and how Ms Abbott came to be doing high-level work, such as delivering a public statement on disarmament, when there were up to 14 policy specialist attached to the mission.

In an effort to show that see honest Abb is not above making a sacrifice and a token heavy lift announced that the Parlim't Gold Card is to be scrapped.
Presumably for a Platinum Card with bonus frequent flyer points for the members spouse, mistress and friends.

What I find strange is this will not happen till 2020.
FMD how long does it take to cancel a credit card???

How long before this comes into effect?
Not till 2020?
Is he serious???????
How hard is it to cancel a company effing charge card??????

And now we have the head architect of the Business council and this abomination of a budget telling the less well off, the students, the medical profession to stop complaining??????

No one voted for these RADICAL changes to Australian society but these fat cats of dream-world think waving "the budget emergency flag" at very thing gives them carte blanch to do what ever they want, regardless of what they said and/or promised.

These are huge changes and they need to be discussed in a rational way before they are implemented, not after.

Actually, he mentioned the gold card before the election. Though the only times I've heard about it since was on budget night (Sky News did it live for hours) and then on Q and A.

Hasn't received too much coverage, but it's well and truly been mentioned previously.

Abbotts achievements to date.
At least we stopped them pesky boats right, or did they just tow them out of our waters?

The guy has become an International laughing stock...
Who will power Abbott's lips if Rupert extracts his right hand?

Which one impresses you?
