Thanks London.
Right foot, left foot, tongue out, any angle.
Was before his time. And even now when the dribbled goal from the boundary is more common place, his highlights are still a standout.
He didn't master the art of the oval ball he invented the art itself.
Thanks for the memories daics _________________ No Pressure, No Diamonds

Hope thery are better than their uncle Victor!!
Victor Daicos trained at Collingwood with Peter but was no where near him talent wise. |

I had the pleasure of picking up and dropping off Daics at his hotel for our function this year. On the way to the club, we talked about footy in general but on the way back I said my favourite moment was in the 1981 prelim against Geelong.
I see in the column this thread refers to the editor was after footage of this same passage of play as Daic nominated it as his fav goal of all time. Oddly, I can't remember the goal. As I said to Daics, it was more the mark, the handball over the head of Nankervis and Daics running around him, looking over his shoulder, bouncing, before straigtening up to kick the goal. It was sublime. One of so many memories of a Collingwood legend. _________________ Jonno

What a great article, and such wonderful memories.
I consider it a privilege to have seen his first game, his last game, and most of the ones in between.
If I live to be 100, he will still be my favorite ever player. _________________ I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within. |

Onya London Dave great read, not too many players have invented new skills for the game, my old man believes the two guys who have done this are Polly Farmer with the handball and Daicos with his goal kicking. A true innovator, should be made a legend just for that. Does anyone else have a player in mind that changed the game like Daicos? _________________ Tear the roof off tha sucker!!! |

Great article, thanks LD.
The more things change the more it's right to go back and show who pioneered some of the modern play. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I've always felt he never got the recognition he deserved from the general public and the media, probably because of who he played for. I never saw a lot of Bucks live, and was a bit young for JG, so for me, and I guess a lot of my 'generation', he was numero uno.
Glad you folks enjoyed the article. |

I'd never noticed the look of despair on Daniher's face before after the goal that sparked the team in the 1990 Grand Final. |

It says it all that I omly had to look at the title of the thread to know what it was about. It is no disrepect to Nathan Buckley to say that Daics was the greatest Collingwood player of my lifetime. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |
