49ers - Saints was a great game, with some great work by both defences. Brees though needs to not get carried away when he has momentum on his side - that interception he threw into triple coverage just before halftime was ridiculous.

Saw some highlights of some of the other games. Detroit just keep managing to eke out wins. Bills fumbling problems come back to haunt them - could have really set themselves up for a wildcard spot but they keep on mucking it up. Browns on top of their division for first time in 19 years or something like that. Jets use something resembling a proper QB and win a game - coincidence? Maybe. That Carson Palmer injury could really throw the cat among the pigeons in the NFC West.

Very bad news for him and for the Cardinals.

Also, if you follow the links there, you will find one to an article in which Marc Trestman (coach of the Chicago Bears) says that he wants Jay Cutler "to play better". Ho Ho Ho.

Speaking of QBs who probably can't play any worse, I see that Philly is leading 10:0 in the first quarter against the Panthers, having been gifted short fields for Sanchez to work after a fumble and an interception.

All of a sudden, Sanchez, in place of the injured Nick Foles, is looking like the QB the Jets hoped he would be.

And now, after a slight recovery of sorts, followed by further turnovers and a return TD from a Panther punt, the Panthers trail 31 to 7 just before half-time, despite having more than twice the time of possession

Another turnover by the Panthers (sack and fumble on Cam Newton) leaves Sanchez a 30-yard field to travel. The result? A one-play, 30-yard TD pass.

No. Called down at the 1. So he'll have to get the other yard, yet.

And, yes. Another Philly TD - now 38:7. & minutes, 40 second to go in the third.

So after the completion of week 10, the provisional play off standings would see:

take the play off berths, though Green Bay and San Francisco would be well in the hunt for a wild card, if they can't win their divisions and Carolina and Atlanta can still not be ruled out of winning the NFC South, given New Orleans' dismal record (4 and 5, whereas they are each 3 and 6);

and in the AFC:

Denver
Indy
Cleveland
Kansas City
Cincinnati

take the play off berths. Realistically, any two (or three) of the AFC North (Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, Browns) could finish up in the playoffs. Otherwise, all of the rest of the AFC teams look done for the season, unless the wheels fall off the leader in their division.

And the injury curse continues for the Bears: Cutler is still healthy and will play again this week.

Three really solid looking matchups on free to air here this coming Monday. Seattle v Kansas City at 5 am, followed by Green Bay hosting Philly at 8.30 and then at 12.30 the Colts host the Pats. In the break between the 2nd and 3rd games, they're showing a feature on Aaron Rodgers, miked up. There's a chance you'll here him say "green 18", I reckon.

Yeah last week they had John Harbough miked up and it was hilarious. Becoming a fan of the miked up episodes. Good luck against Philly I've picked the Packers to win by 10+ points and gone for Oakland to get their first win.

Miami just knocked out a win against the Bills 22:9.

Some big results so far today: the Chiefs beat Seattle 24:20 and the Broncos were beaten by the Rams (who have some very big scalps this season) 22:7. Meanwhile, the 49ers held out the Giants 16:10 and Arizona beat Detroit 14:6. Tampa Bay beat Washington 27:7, the Texans beat the Browns 23:7, Chicago came out of a horror stretch with a 21:13 come from behind win over the Vikings, the Bengal pumped the 'Aints 27:10, Atlanta beat Carolina 19:17 (so, believe it or not, Atlanta now lead the NFC South), the Chargers beat the Raiders 13:6 and the Pack beat Philly 53:20.
