So if we believe the rumours basically most of our backline is out from last weeK:
Fasolo inj, Toovey inj.
Rumour: Maxwell out, Young out.

That only leaves Frost and Keeffe from last week.

The way we would line up is:
Frost, Brown, Williams
Lumumba Keeffe Langdon

Still I hope the rumour true is the Waite one.

There are too many rumours for my liking at the moment so based on the current changes, I like the inclusions of both Dwyer and Williams. Dwyer is a reliable performer and rarely plays a bad game so I expect a solid performance from him tonight.

In regards to Williams I'm a little worried that we've rushed him back too quickly but with Toovey out of the side I think bringing in Williams was the logical replacement for Tooves. Pity that Tooves isn't playing though since he's been instrumental since he returned from a serious knee injury.

If we're serious we really should take care of this mob comfortably. I wouldn't be surprised if we jump out of the blocks tonight considering our starts have been ordinary so far this season and after last week's poor first quarter I think the coaching staff will try and make sure that this won't be repeated again.

Good line-up overall and if the rain stays away we should win this one comfortably.

Pies by 7 goals

I would so love to dominate this match from the get go so I can sit back, relax and enjoy the carnage but you just know these pricks will find something extra.

Still if we can find something extra as well and Cloke fires then we should win comfortably.

God I hate this scum of a club.

Few scribes running with the Waite/Carrazzo late change double....

Carrazzo wouldnt suprise...has been battling a niggle all season and started late too.

Although Mark Stevens did claim Tom Bell would come in to tag a Collingwood mid...good luck with that Tom.

I'm also hoping for revenge after what happened in 1992 when the Scum ruined our centenary celebrations. Time to ruin their 150th anniversary celebrations.

Game will be played in about seven halves. Carlton are a side with only two natures. Either they:

  • play their weak, defensive, chipping it around style and gradually leak more goals than they score
  • or they go balls-out attack, run like crazy, take risks, and break defences wide open.

We will see both Carltons tonight. They will probably manage two bursts of fast, attacking football, say around 15 minutes worth of it at a time, plus a lot of fairly negative, do-nothing crap-ball.

Our challenge isn't so much to beat them over the main part of the match (which will be their not-very-good crap-ball game) as to restrict them during the relatively short periods when they go into full-on run hard and attack mode. They can score very quickly doing that, and if we don't clamp down hard on it there is a very real risk that they will kick a winning score in a couple of 10 or 15 minute periods. They can't keep that style up for very long, so what we need to do is restrict their ability to score from it and wait for the storm to blow itself out.

Our mids will be crucial to this. Carlton, for all their manifest general crappiness, are a bit like Essendon - very quick and hard to hold while they are moving the ball fast and breaking lines. Our mids must be willing to run hard to pressure and defend. Secondly, our mids have to make the most of scoring opportunities throughout the remainder of the game, otherwise we just won't have enough of a score on the board to crush them.

Collingwood by 35 points in the end, but in a game that is closer than that score suggests.

Go Pies!
