If you look at our young guys we have some good depth down back and in the ruck...
The glaring weakness is up forward. Cloke and WHite are both 27 this year and Reid is 25 so they have a few years left but we need to see some genuine young talent developed up forward - nothing in the magoos to really take note! That is why Moore is a high priority for next year, but good forwards are rare so I would focus my energy for next year on getting the best big forwards and maybe the year after also! |
I think GWS have stacked up a few power forwards Paton, Boyd & Cameron who all can't play in the same forward line so there's a chan they will trade on of these in search of a quality A Grade mid fielder and a high rd 1 pick. So it would then be a case of who would we be willing to give up ?
There is no way in hell we would part with Swan Pendles or Beams they are the best 3 combo mids in the comp all capable of 30+ and can all kick goals on a regular basis so. I can't see us giving up any of our developing mids so leaves us with a sidebottom as trade bait.
Now would bucks give sidey away to get a Boyd is the question. While I'm no sidey fan like many others (he frustrated me so much at times standing out of contests waiting for a soft stat) he is a high quality player who can kick goals and I think has a huge upside. He was a top 10 pick for a reason and when he is on he is silky.
Not sure we need to go after one in this draft and will be looking at getting a power forward in the 2016 or 2017 draft. I'm sure he would have his eyes fixed that far ahead.
Currently Trav white and Reid are a good 3 targets and with Elliott and our gun mids capable of kicking goals I think we will look at collecting the best player available (no matter of his position)
Hine has the runs on the board to trust with his ability to find a gem (Beams at #27) |

Only trade players that want to leave. Why damage a young culture that is successful?
Frawley was the subject of some must get posts a couple of months ago Frost has stepped up as has the whole second string defence.
Lesson it is far too early to be targeting specific players.
Looking at the ages the only real weakness are a Cloke replacement possibly Moore and a Swanny replacement.
Both are first round picks
Langdon can replace Maxwell. _________________ Carlscum 120 years being cheating scum |

I think our next midfield will come from within. As Bally and Swanny start to slow down and become pinch hitters, Steele, Fasolo, Adams etc will have started to become regulars in the rotation and will be ready to step up to being in the starting 4. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Michael Barlow is out of contract at the end of the year.
I've heard he is on about 350 K a year and the Dockers are playing hard ball. |

Why bring in another mature age mid?
I reckon the only mature age recruits should be where you have a Clear deficiency and a flag beckons like we did with Leeroy _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Don't mind mature age recruits. It's hard to find good players in the draft after round 2 (and even in the first two rounds) so why not pick up a player who's shown he can at least play at AFL level? As long as you don't pay them too much. Hawthorn's had a lot of success with recycled players. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

Get Moore and another KPP in this years draft, upgrade Frost and Martin and we will be laughing all the way to the bank. |

We need goal kickers. Players who can either create a goal from nothing, or drill one on the run from 50. We're still too sloppy in this department, and lack long accurate kicks of the footy. _________________ Est. 2002 |

Still a fair way off I know but I reckon just when Cloke's career is coming to an end Jeremy Cameron will be eligible for FA.
Mad Collingwood supporter as a kid apparently.
Lock it in Eddie.
As for this year I wouldn't be to fussed if we held off trying to land a big fish via FA until next season when the pool is probably better.
Still I'll trust Hine to make the right call and if we go close to winning the flag or hell even win it then we might look to land a Frawley or Gibbs. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Can't see Gibbs going anywhere but back to SA
Dangerfield would be a massive get or perhaps convince one of the guns from either GWS or GC that they want to come home.
We've done extremely well last two trade and draft periods and have every confidence we will do well again this time around |

Watching the Dogs last night I actually felt for them. They bottomed out as the new kids on the block arrived and got all the concessions. The Dogs have bugger all key marking forwards whereas GWS have too many and are going to drive a very hard bargain for anyone else to trade for them. Not sure how much a team like the dogs have to offer either. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |

There's a kid running around in the WAFL colts, Cameron Loersch. He's 18, 201cm tall and tips the scales at 103kg. This is his 3rd season in the colts. Takes a big mark, helps out in the ruck and knows where the goals are (has kicked 25 in the first 7 rounds). Get him. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |
