The team of the century is being revised and our club doesn't have one player that deserves a spot. Really? We have no one good enough. Are we hated that much? Daicos, Coventry, McKenna, Buckley, anyone. I'm sure there are more that some of you can list that deserve a spot.

There is no way that Silvagni deserved to be in that side!
Jack Regan was the best full back, ever! He played against champions and did brilliantly.
As for the modern day full backs (up to 1996) David Dench and Geoff Southby were both better than Silvagni.

Didn't SOS's admission that Carlton cheated the salary cap , send the club to three should have been four wooded spoons (bloody sloppy bulldogs kick ins) , in the past dozen years Laughing

We should at least thank him for that

100%agreed- could even add langford-and even Pert or Frawley who were all better full back than Silvagni.

Then they should pick a bloody squad of 30 players or whatever the amount they pick for a team squad selection these days 5 days before a game. But to omit champions like Coventry, Buckley, Daicos etc is not only an insult to the concept of having a team of the century but it is a major insult to the sport of Aussie Rules Football..... Evil or Very Mad

I find this extremely offensive and it totally re-inforces why I dont read or watch much of the hack footy media these days. They are anti Collingwood and utterly biased against us at every stage of a game, season or, as in this case, a bloody century.. Mad

What do we think about Simon Madden? I may be too young, but I would never have even thought of him as close to selection. Maybe it's just that ruck is the weakest position? I can understand Silvagni (though I'm sure he'll be replaced by Matty Scarlett one day Rolling Eyes ), but Madden genuinely has me scratching my head. Maybe I just don't know my history well enough?

I reckon it's a bloody insult to the blokes omitted and their families. A futile exercise.

Agree that it's a crap concept. It enshrines these players as better than any others. When in reality a subjective decision has been made by a few people. The distinctions are too fine for it to be worthwhile. This isn't anything official though, right? Can't be with Robbo and Ando doing the selecting.

I'm not sure that Buckley should be included. Voss is not there and some would argue he had the greater career, given the three Premierships. But as I say, who would know? To do it fairly, you'd try and fit in players from as many clubs as possible, because the distinctions between them really are so small and subjective.

Agreed- and all 3 are legitimate legends (Nichols was even though he was a scum player)

Pointless.

Should've been team of this century ie. 2000-2014

Just noticed that Madden is listed as a forward. How does he compare to Salmon? Stats are very similar. I'd have been less surprised to see the latter included, but then I actually saw him play Wink.

I'd say out Madden, in Daicos. A real forward pocket. I don't think he was necessarily our greatest player, but he's the one that fits into the team.
