Post subject: Is Ed McGuire the most powerful man in football? Asks Caro | |
|
At the moment I would think that he is the most powerful , and he's ours

The leadership void at the helm of Australian football appears to be nearing an end, which is fortunate because it was in danger of having been filled by stealth.
And the evidence was mounting that the most powerful man in football was not AFL Commission chairman Mike Fitzpatrick nor league chief executive Andrew Demetriou, but Collingwood president Eddie McGuire.

The most vocal perhaps, but not the most powerful. _________________ How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say? |

Eddy dared to take a stance against her beloved Richmond scheduling future games on Anzac day eve. This is the price one pays for remonstrating such an opinion.
There are certainly those who hate Eddie but this has more to do with individuals suffering from "Tall Poppy Syndrome" than something that Eddie has done to offend them. Eddie has gained the respect of many of the more balanced supporters from other clubs as it is obvious that he is more than happy to influence things that benefit other clubs and the game as a whole without benefiting Collingwood. Eddy is far from perfect but the positives far outweigh the negatives and the contribution he has made to our club is only questioned by those small minded individuals amongst us.
As for equalisation, when Caro promotes the equalisation of journalist wages at the Age and as such takes a significant pay I will at least think that she fully believes in the concept. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |
