Be hard not too I think

We went to Gallipoli a couple of years ago - to stand there and look upon the graves so many so young and then remember that so many young folk mainly men had lost their lives in wars before was well I don't know how to explain it.

We stood for a long time reading the memorial at Anzac Cove:

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives�
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours�
You, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace, after having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."
Ataturk, 1934

Later when we sitting having a beer a couple of locals joined us " you are Australian and have come to honour your fallen yes? "yes" " - you are always welcome in our country - and you would have been welcome without such a pointless war and loss of our sons"

Ataturk deserves massive praise for his attitude and sentiments.

That we have the freedom to live and travel as we do is something we should all be grateful for
