Haven't seen Seedsman on the ground for a while so maybe 1 player on the bench. |
that was a terrific, gutsy win given the bench situation. |
Particularly since some of those on the bench looked like they'd been eating all the players post match rations. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Loved Maloneys work in the midfield. He's a real modern day Collingwood midfielder and I could easily see him mixing it with Swan, Pendlebury, Beams and Ball.
Dwyer and Martin are a class above.
Yagmoor and Armstrong show no urgency coming out of defence or defending. Brown won't be dislodging Keefe or Frost any time soon.
Lynch seemed resigned to the fact his career is over.
Marley's injury was very innocuous and probably opens the door for Clarke again (moan) although Dwyer played a lot behind the ball and could probably slot in at halfback.
Karnezis was good but I cant see where he'd slot into our seniors.
Kennedy, Broomhead and Adams need to work on their disposal before a senior call up.
Good win. |

Mixed day for our senior listed guys.
Agree that I can't see a spot for Karnezis at the moment. He probably needs an Elliott injury to get a gig.
I didn't see much of Broomhead.
Kennedy did some nice things but a few real howlers that would get punished at senior level. Has anyone else noticed that he really seems to have trouble judging the ball in flight. Like someone will handball / kick to him and he'll stand there waiting for the ball and it will go over his head before he realises?
It's a shame Martin can't play.
How on earth is Armstrong senior listed. He's just atrocious.
Clarke is a very good VFL player because the game's played at a pace he can handle and defensive structures aren't emphasised as much. He just can't play AFL though.
I think Dwyer's in the same boat, although others rate him higher. He's yet another smart, clean handed, small, not really an inside but not really an outside mid and in that role I'd have him behind Josh Thomas and Adams.
Speaking of which, Adams was really good. A couple of scrubber kicks, but the cleanest hands and best decision making of anyone on the ground. A nice goal saving tackle as well. Don't know if there's a spot for him ahead of Thomas, but he's very good depth at the least.
Brown got better as the game went on and should come in for one of Keeffe or Frost.
Marley probably wasn't BOG, but he was just a cut above when he got near it. His disposal was as good as I've ever seen from him, less a scrubber kick for goal after he was probably exhausted. If that translates to AFL, he's got a genuine shot at being an AA back pocket in the next few years considering how good his tackling and one on one game is.
Mooney did some very nice things, but went missing too much. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

Lynch a suspected fractured leg...
No excuses, stick him on the Long Term Injury list and elevate Martin, or GTFO. |

What? Do you seriously think Brown isn't better than either of those two? yourself. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

Thanks for the comprehensive updates MB
From what I can gather from these updates, I get the impression that possibly Martin and Dwyer will be the two inclusions for the side against Carlton as they replace Fasolo and Young respectively.
A question I do have is how is Nathan Brown tracking? It's amazing to think that he may not get back into the side considering how well the likes of Langdon and Frost are playing at the moment.
I feel sorry for big Q Stick. I was hoping he'd get back into the side even as a backup at some point. Pity that this may be career-ending for him considering where's he at with his football.
Nice win and good to see Marley back in the side. I hope he's ok after he went off late in the game. I have a feeling that the club may have been cautious with him. It'd be a good idea to give him another game in the VFL before considering him for selection after the bye in the senior side.
Anyway well-played Pies. Always good to beat Essendon no matter if it's in the AFL or VFL! _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

A pleasant Sunday watching the VFL on iview sounds pretty good to me .
Thanks heaps for the updates during the game .
I just love having such strong depth in the VFL bashing on the door of the AFL , there's no room for complacency at Collingwood .

No, he doesn't. Brown is just being eased back. He is the first player pencilled in on the backline when he's right to go. |
