Mandy and Stui, I always thought the Bored Board served that purpose—that is, more personal chat as opposed to politics, religion, art and so on (more the VPT's purpose). Considering the BB is more or less unused these days I can't see why we shouldn't migrate back there (it's also a private forum, an added bonus if we're talking about more personal stuff).
