Where was this bassinet Pram supposed to sit during the game? If was taking up a seat, then he should pay. If he wants the kid to get in for nothing, carry it in and sit it on his lap.

Bulldogs game, lots of empty seats Wink

But yeah that's what I was wondering!

And who in their right mind takes a 2 week old baby to the footy?

Maybe if you are desperate to get out the house and are breastfeeding. In that case, wouldn't you think of using a sling - easier to get around?

Nope sorry, 2 week old babies don't belong at the footy on a cold night, surrounded by germs and noise! I remember re seeing a tiny one handed around the cheer squad last year, nope. Not on.

A 2wk old baby should NOT be at the footy or anywhere else where a lot of people congregate for that matter!
Un-vaccinated with Whooping Cough running rampant in the community!

A wise move that one!

WTF was he thinking?
Watch it on TV at home, FFS!
You're not gonna drop off the planet if you miss a few matches whilst your baby is young...

Would you also not bring a baby along to the beach, or a shopping centre, or a crowded park? A lot of people congregate there, too. They do need to get some fresh air, you know!

I think this is a distraction from the main issue. I might not bring a baby along to a football game, but it's clearly not against the law to do so. If I did, and the baby isn't even taking up a seat, why should I be charged a full-priced general admission ticket for it? It's completely ridiculous and unnecessary; the sort of thing that could only be dreamed up by someone who prioritises "rules and regulations" over common sense.

It's not about personal responsibility vs entitlement. It's about average human decency vs authoritarian control and the people who can't get enough of it.

http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/help-travelling-with-infants/global/en

QANTAS's policy is that, if the infant (up to 2 years of age) doesn't take up a seat, domestic flights are free and international flights 10% of the adult ticket is charged. Pretty reasonable.

Actually no David, I didn't! Take the babies out at that age that is! It's too fricken hard and nerve wracking for one thing, but I didn't want anyone breathing on them! I pushed them around the streets in a pram, that was about it for the first few weeks!

But the point is, no, a baby sitting on a parents lap should not need a ticket.

Well yes actually I didn't take my kids out.
We stayed home.
It was very easy, my daughter being a July baby & being Winter, but my son was a November baby so it was a little harder with him, but I managed.
It is against my religion to take a baby out in public for the first 40 days of their life anyway.
Their first outing was to church to see the priest.
It is also against my religion that we have no visitors for those 40 days.
Of course, if the infant is sick during that time, then you obviously visit the doctors, no questions.

But I do agree that the baby should not be paying for a seat.

Regarding airline travel, we have always bought seats for the kids when flying.
When they were young i.e. under 18mo, we would take their car seats & strap them in.
As they got older, we bought the CARES harness to which my 5yo still wears.

I don't understand parents struggling on a plane with their toddlers on their lap to save a few bucks, but hey, each to their own...
