many on this forum express contempt and disgust towards our games at eithad. what if we were to play our away game against the saints in wellington, nz?
it's a cracker of a little city. a small scale melbourne and not that far to fly.
it wouldn't be the anzac day clash cos of the existing fixture but perhaps some time later in the year. there's probably too many existing commercial arrangements to allow it to happen.
that aside, would you be interested in venturing to aotearoa for an away game?
i know many kiwis pick collingwood as their afl team because of our colours. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

i am not sure why my fourth option did not display ...

i'd be happy to head over for this type of fixture. the stadium is easy to access and is on the city's edge. there's a trillion bars and the food is excellent. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Wellington is not a bad place at all. All the hills and the way you walk into a building on the 6th floor are a head ****, and it's windier than a Chili convention, but lots of places to eat and drink and nice people. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Only if it replaced a Subiaco game. I don't want us to have six games out of Victoria. _________________ Magpies love pies(Lol) |

I think it would be a great idea The Saints v Pies
Next year it could be played on a Saturday afternoon twilight on the 6th June starting at 5:54 pm Wellington time , and be shown live back into Melbourne starting at 3:54 pm Melbourne time
Market it as Come see the Saints v Pies on the suxth of the suxth at sux minutes to sux _________________ 1990 Grand Final :

No! This is an Australian game and I can't see the point of expanding to NZ at all. Besides, they would NEVER play Collingwood at a small stadium - otherwise we'd play Hawthorn down in Launceston. It is not going to happen.
You have to laugh though. St Kilda think they are setting up a New Zealand base and get beaten by the wooden spoon favourites. _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |

Hobart is the Aussie parallel you are looking for John Wren. Wellington is nothing like Melbourne geographically or culturally.
They were lucky to get 10,000 there on ANZAC Day and I saw a bit of the Super Rugby there yesterday and their own Wellington Hurricanes could only draw about the same number. And this is a rugby country! There is no interest nor money for top sport in New Zealand. Just ask the NRL and the A-League. Both their franchises are struggling big time financially. The AFL is crazy to consider it. _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |

Would be a good trip. See NZ + watch some football.
But not if we have to give up a home game to do it.
Can it replace an Etihad game at the beginning of the season when the MCG is not available. _________________ Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club
