Have a look at the Roos 3 games either side of when we played them. They overran Port who are one of the fittest teams beat Sydney at the SCG for the first time in like 10 or 11 years then knocked off Freo in Perth. They have knocked off some seriously good teams and we made them look 2nd rate.
The bummers were in a slump and faced 3 losses in a row but they came at us with everything they had plus a few kitchen sinks. Initially we struggled to cope under the pressure (remember they did same to the Hawks 3rd qtr a few weeks back) but we steadied and gave it back to them with twice as much interest and we broke them right down the middle.
We really need to consolidate now and break the scum because they are not in the same class as we are. We just need to keep applying the same pressure as we did against north and the last 3 qtrs against bummers and we will break them pretty quickly. |
I agree. Both genuine top 8 teams that might yet finish in the top 4. I thought beforehand that one win out of two would be a good result. Two resounding victories is fantastic. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

In that 5 week period are conceding an average of 69.2 points per game just shaded by Port who are conceding 67.8. |
And this is while playing some of the better teams. It's a huge improvement on our defensive efforts last year. _________________ Well done boys! |

Well, they're 7th. and we're 4th. (5th. at worst, if WCE beats Carlton) - 5 games later. |
I don't think anyone would have realistically predicted us to be above Fremantle after round 6. Hard to believe after what happened in the opening game of the season.
It's a testament to the club in the way they've responded since the disappointment of the opening match of the season. |
Just goes to show how critical personnel can be to performance. Rumour was we'd had really heavy training loads going into round 1 and that compounded the absence of Reid.
How we've managed to cover the missing players since round 1 is testament to our recruiting and development. Contrast that with Freo missing Walters, Ballantyne and Barlow from their best 22 and really struggling. |

Port ran out of legs when they lost Monfries and Wingard during the game but you point is well made. Actually think our win over the Roos has been our best performance this season. |

Guys, not meaning to under-value our solid win over the Roos, however... they were minus Robbie Tarrant, Swallow and Ziebell. Ziebell in particular tore us a new arse in round 23 last year, 3 Brownlow votes:

And Swallow didn't even play in that round 23 game either.
Isn't that the equivalent of say defeating Collingwood minus Pendles and Swan, as far as missing star midfielders go?
Just putting it out there...

^^Almost. But they have beaten Sydney, Port and Freo with those players missing. They had even more out against Freo with Wells and Thompson also not playing. _________________ Well done boys! |

A game we couldn't have cared less about winning. He's a pretty average player who's never done anything against us in any other game.
And no, missing Ziebell is not the equivalent of missing Pendlebury, not even close.
It's like Essendon fans saying "we were missing Myers and Hocking. That's like Collingwood missing Swan and Beams". Yeah, missing two solid, ordinary midfielders is exactly like missing a Brownlow medalist and an All Australian _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

It's probably more like missing Swan and Sidebottom. _________________ Well done boys! |

Actually it's more like missing Ball and Josh Thomas. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |
