With the Idiots at the VFL having 3 Clashes of VFL and AFL for Collingwood and it's utter Crap.

So we should have our own Reserve Comp with other AFL Clubs

As the AFL has basically raped what was the VFA, I think they have a duty to stick around, so that clubs like Port Melbourne, Williamstown (both older than Collingwood) etc have a relevant competition to play in.

Just because you cant go to see both sides play a whole three time during the year, is no reason to consign these proud clubs to the scrapheap.

Get over yourself, and get a life.

It's silly scheduling, I agree, but since the club have thankfully adopted radio calling of our games, you could listen to the final quarter on the way to the MCG if you have a smartphone...

You'd think there would be an eye to scheduling it more efficiently Dave, but scrapping the whole competition is a bit far fetched.

raped is actually a fairly kind description. The VFA used to have 2 divisions IIRC and a lot of teams that are now gone. We had a perfectly good VFL reserves competition but some bright spark decided to merge it with the VFA and rename it.

Personally I'd like to see the VFA come back in it's own right as a competition above the suburban leagues and the AFL teams run their own seconds team in an AFL seconds comp. I'd go and watch the Collingwood seconds by any name at Vic Park.

Unfortunately, I think that ship has sailed. If the AFL were to break away (again) I think it would be all over for a lot of the old VFA clubs. Port, Will, Sandy & maybe Werribee may be able to survive, but the others.....

Most of their better players could probably get paid more playing Suburban football.

Well Port Nearly Died over the Pre-Season anyway.

There be less Demands and money needed by the Clubs if this Happens.

Guess you never go to AFL Games then

Oh well, lets just piss them all off then. Just so Dave can watch our AFL and VFL teams play every week. Stuff everyone else, who cares about those other clubs anyway. Rolling Eyes Never mind that the AFL stuffed their comp in the first place.

And, yes, I go to ALL our AFL games.

they are separate entities dave. stop your sooking and be thankful we have our own stand alone team rather than an affiliated team. the club put in its requests and this year is a much better result than last year.

If the traditional VFA clubs are not playing against ALF seconds, where do you think the next Sam Dwyer's will be playing?

If they cant play against AFL listed players, thereby giving themselves a chance to finally get drafted, they will go and play in a suburban comp, where they will more than likely be paid more.

Some of these suburban clubs have money coming out their backsides.

The traditional VFA clubs will then all eventually close down, or end up as just another club in a suburban comp.

What a shame.

You can still get Players if the VFL/VFA was Stand Alone
